So it's not like everyone else who open up on the road to make sure their teams play in warm weather?

Well by all means if a coach said so, then I apologize profusely.

Take it easy OU Guy, I am just teasing you. We all know OU is the standard in softball. It's opening day, have a beer and chill bro.

MSU beat Baylor 10-0 last night. First win for MSU vs Baylor in 11 games. We only returned 4 starters from last year, but the transfer class was ranked 3rd in the country and first in the SEC.

Is that a misprint? I thought I heard that the Oklahoma Sooners softball team had one game attended by over 11,000 last year?

That was an away game last night at Arizona State. Biggest attendance for ASU ever.

Patty wants to keep growing the sport. So she tries to schedule extra away games. And its good for her team to play early and away vs some good competition.

Yes sir, I understood it was an away game, I was just surprised their attendance record was only 2,373 or whatever.

Virginia is not a tiny school.

Having Oklahoma in the conference is going to be interesting. I mean our women's sports have interesting ties to Oklahoma. Our soccer team lives off stealing recruits from Oklahoma and Texas, our women's basketball coach is a long time Oklahoma coach (going to be a long year for the Ladybacks, the SEC is not a fun conference to do a major rebuild in), and our softball team is one of the squads really impacted by the new arrivals.

The game has grown a ton but a lot of it is TV viewers which give the impression of these big fancy fields. OU built a new one which holds just under 5k and was the largest at the time a few years ago. It takes a long time for schools to get funds to expand their fields, depends on donors and priorities.

The bigger number you likely remember is the championship games those take place at Softball Hall of Fame in OKC which has the bigger fan amenities and seats.

One thing appealing about softball is games are much faster and usually take 2 hrs or less. Helps for TV slots plus fans can attend and still have time for other stuff.

Our women's soccer team has improved every year since we hired new coach about 4 years ago. He is doing good in recruiting.

Our women's basketball coach is awesome. She took over same year as Moser took over men. And she’s done a great job. WBB is tough in SEC so many good teams.

And Patty is still HC for softball. She built it from nothing over 30 years ago. Now she has 8 titles.

I probably should have put gymnastics in there. Last I checked out of the top 8 teams 7 of them were from the SEC.
