Why do people think they're so good?
A&M has been recruiting well for the last few years so they will be fine. Except for last year Mizzou has been winning 8-12 games a year for almost a decade. It amazes me how little some SEC fans know about football outside of the conference. Mizzou's recruiting class for this year has me a little worried, we seemed to have recruited better in the Big 12.

Mizzou is hard to tell because, although our recruiting is whats really alarming, Pinkel's program has been doing more with less (i.e. using 3 star type players to create winning teams) for years now. This year, Michael Sam the SEC's sack leader and L'Damian Washington one of its top WRs are former 2 star guys. So the question becomes, does Pinkel's program sustain that.

More specifically, the question becomes how much of that was due to the depth of high school talent in the state of *Texas* and how does the depth there compare to the depth of high school talent in Florida and Georgia. Because for better or worse, that's what our coaching staff is doing now, is focusing on GA and FL as a main supplement to its local recruiting in Missouri, rather than using TX recruits for that purpose. We have found over and over that a 3 star or 2 star recruit from TX is often just as good a catch as a 4 star recruit from some other state (and I think you could say that programs like Baylor, Oklahoma State, TCU have validated that idea too).

But what happens if Pinkel starts trying to haul 3 star type guys from FL and GA and trying to coach them up per his formula? Will that work??? I don't know. I know it would be controversial as hell to ask the Rant if Texas high school football is just flat out superior to the high school football in Florida and Georgia, but Pinkel's program's place in the SEC over the next ten years probably hinges on the answer to that question

Good post.

That's why I hated seeing Pinkel all but abandon Texas. A presence could still be maintained via OOC scheduling, Arkansas game and eventual yearly game with A&M when we're finally shifted back to the SECw.

One thing that will keep us competitive moving forward is Pinkel knows how to recruit QBs and WRs. Just look at how many of these programs are tanking when a stud graduates/leaves or gets injured - trainwreck or at least off the rails.

Just like the NFL, the SEC is becoming a quarterback league and Mizzou's got a pipeline going.

I want to know what Bama does without a QB named McCarron.

Ummm...you do realize we won a NC with McElroy, right?

I think "SC/Mizzou" is spot on. I think our programs will be on a very similar level over the next 10 years--prob between #5 & #7

To be fair and accurate, even though its not what I originally stated, I agree with Auburn. But you have to say 2a and 2b.

This is if you follow recruiting.

A&M is going to have top 10 or 5 at the position Nation Wide on D in 2015.

The O skilz are banging down the door. OL is back up.
