He may never play a down of football at Foley High School. But they will have the support to get him eligible.

Was there also a similar situation with DJ Fluker and Foley coming out of Biloxi MS? Not trying to stir the pot here but I never really understood the full story there....

quote:The logical assumption is that the Washington ad wasn't approached by a college coach regarding academic support.
I won't to know why nothing has been made of another high profile kid transferring from Washington High School.
quote:Plus the article in the op with quotes from an assistant coach.
The source of all of this is a message board post that was then "retracted".
quote:He has made it appear that his coach buddy can pull some academic shenanigans.
Other than possibly suggesting Page transfer, and putting him in contact with Foley High School, what has Jeremy Pruitt done.
quote:I was loling at your defensiveness and deflection.
You come off as such with your snarky "lol" at my comment on there being no proof of Jeremy Pruitt doing anything illegal.

D.J. Fluker bounced around after Hurricane Katrina. It's a wonder he ever graduated high school.

How? The Season starts in a month?

It seems the coach is just mad his best player is leaving. Jeremy Pruitt suggested a transfer after things weren't going well at Washington High School.
You have a once in a decade LB transfer down the street from JHS, but you're going to look for seediness in a NG project, that will likely have a tough time qualifying at any rate? You can find something fishy in any of these kids transferring, but its more wishful thinking than anything.

He's a 2013 prospect. He just needs to work on his grades to be eligible for Alabama next fall. So again, I say, he likely never sees the field at Foley under AHSAA transfer rules.

So the Washington High School AD lied about Paige?
I'm not saying he didn't break a law, I was just wondering what law you were referring to
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
"Examples of situations affected by FERPA include school employees divulging information to anyone other than the student about the student's grades or behavior, and school work posted on a bulletin board with a grade. Generally, schools must have written permission from the parent or eligible student in order to release any information from a student's education record."

My take FWIW.
Kid had shite grades and wasn't allowed to play. College guy says "hey, he goes over here he is good to go." Coach get upset because one of his good players is bouncing. High school coach w/out good players = someone looking a job after a few shite seasons. Dude runs his trap and makes a stink. He is probably cutting off his nose to spite his face..coaching circles are tight.
All in all, same shite that happens everywhere. Good players get help becoming or staying eligible. BFD. So long as CFB is a money making machine, and gridiron glory is important, this kind of shite is gonna happen.
Will anything come of this? Probably not.

I agree. Just gets messy when people are reporting things and making it public. Also, it will probably affect the kid and not Alabama if anything were to come of it.

fluker did not have trouble qualifying or grade issues out of high school. he is a very smart guy, makes the academic honor roll all the time at Alabama. he bounced around alot after Katrina, moving from LA to mobile, to biloxi, back to mobile.

I look at it this way. AU was looking at some kids on the East Coast. I can't remember the whole story, but something came out about the school being bunk. A coach basically set up a football mill. A bunch of do-gooders got their panties in a Pitt. agent way, and started throwing stuff out there..
Nothing comes of it, everyone does it, and as long a kids with measurables are told they are "special" it will always go on.
Maybe AHSAA rules are more relaxed than Florida. I don't know. Maybe Pruitt knows someone will hold his hand at Foley. I don't know. Maybe someone will wholesale change his grades. I don't know.
What do I know? Moms are gonna find jobs, kids are gonna make the necessary grades, and "nudge-nudge wink-wink" deals will go down as long as we find ourselves paying for tickets/buying gear/typing on CFB message boards.

I have a lot of family from Pensacola. My cousins stopped going to Washington because they were becoming pretty bad.

This is 5 pages so I'm not reading it.
I would assume that Bama didn't anything wrong as usual.
Aren't there more examples of kids headed to Bama transferring to Foley? Maybe not.

It has been 20 years since I lived there, so that is probably true.
