I just checked with the NCAA and they've finished processing your national championship application for 1964.

Three way tie, so I guess a 1/3 is better than nothing

If Alabama can claim it, then Ole Miss really was 2003 division champs
Should be 13 1/3
Should be 13 1/3

I was trying to find the banner picture to make the same reference, but failed miserably.

Let's ask Mark Emmert what he thinks about the FBS postseason...
quote:
On Wednesday, NCAA president Mark Emmert provided a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice in response to its query earlier this month regarding the Bowl Championship Series system. He explained how the Football Bowl Subdivision postseason format is determined by FBS member schools and directed questions to the BCS on its system, which does not fall under the purview of the NCAA.
In his response letter, Emmert said, “Inasmuch as the BCS system does not fall under the purview of the NCAA, it is not appropriate for me to provide views on the system.
“… As a result, your request for views on how the BCS system serves ‘the interest of fans, colleges, universities, and players’ is better directed to the BCS itself.”

The NCAA doesn't give two shits who calls themselves national champion. They have nothing to do with it. Never have.
So some list on the NCAA's website is meaningless. Those aren't official championships. Any team can claim a title for whatever year they like. The NCAA is powerless to say otherwise because they don't proclaim anyone to be an official champ in the first place.
If Arkansas wants to claim '64, then Auburn can claim '04. Why not? Seems legit to me. One of those teams ran the table in the greatest conference man has ever known and beat every team they faced. The other didn't.

This thread isn't turning out the way hawgfaninc hoped.
None of his fellow Piggies have showed up to troll at the trough.
