Auburn finally proves to be contender or will Gus Malzahn continue running the program down the drain?

This is do or die for Gus because he loses both lines of scrimmage next year...ALL 5 starting OL's and the top 3 DL's. Auburn has not recruited well enough at OL or DT not to take a step back next year. We might be able to scheme around Mississippi State next year...but no way we beat LSU, UGA, Bama with mediocre OL/DL play. CamBo holds Gus's job in his hands.

Auburn has been a contender already. The real question is, will LSU?

I hear you man. And I actually thought LSU was bad in the trenches but that’s a lot of production that needs to be restocked. I saw you guys had quite a few OL in this years recruiting class. Do you feel any of them can come in and produce right away? If not, let LSU borrow some Tackles. We can’t recruit any apparently

I mean you followed up troll like OP with serious questions a few posts later. I'm not sure what type of answers you're looking for.

LSU can’t even beat Alabama, let alone win the division.

AU and Gus won the west 2 years ago.

Maybe one or 2...and we do have a couple of reserves in Brahms and Brodarious Hamm (Center and probable RT) that are pretty good and will play this year...but that class coming in next year, as you know it takes a pretty special athlete to come in as a true frosh and make a positive contribution on the O-Line...AU is bringing in 2 OT's from JC that I forgot about that will be very helpful...but still, you don't lose your entire OL without taking a step back...AU has recruited VERY well at LB and DE...but not DT...unless we add a 5* or 2 this class that contribute right away, big step back on the DL interior.

Stars have aligned this season for AU pretty much everywhere except schedule..and perhaps, QB...that remains to be seen.

That’s true. I like the 6’8” OT y’all recruited from JUCO. Kid is massive!! Also I think after recruits see how good of a DL y’all have this year, things will start to shift in the direction. Y’all are known for great DL.

Auburn has been the only team to get in Saban’s way and win. LSU rolls over and lays there.

The 3 goose eggs in 7 years are especially cringe-worthy.

And still didn’t win a championship, conference or national. I didn’t post to talk shite but you’re making it really hard for me not to.

I’m not talking shite, I stated facts. AU has won the west twice since LSU last went to Atlanta, including a conference championship. So who is really going down the drain?

Gus Malzahn

In 2013 Auburn won the SEC. In 2016 Auburn had an opportunity to win the SEC West in November. In 2017 Auburn won the SEC West.

Is this the year Gus stops contending and goes on a championship streak? This seems like a more appropriate musing.

or

If you prefer negative prisms...Is this the year Gus loses his team after losing games early in the season most objective football fans believed the Auburn team should have won? This also is a more appropriate musing.
