Any true fan and historian can’t deny how great Florida was in 1984. There are SEC Championship rings that year. If not Florida, then Washington. BYU will always be a head scratcher.

BYU because they were the only undefeated team that season. They got to play 6-5 Michigan in the Holiday Bowl since 10-1 Washington chose to play on the Orange Bowl instead.

Oh I know the story. It’s just surprising still that the media thought a WAC schedule in 1984 was warranted of a national title but not in 1975 when Arizona State was the only undefeated program which resulted in a thumping of Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl. Oklahoma lost late in the season to Kansas before recovering and winning the dual poll titles.
