I capitalized the rule for you where it says simulate THE SOUND OF AN OFFENSIVE START. When you clap to snap the ball the defense can not clap once the ball is set and they are lined up. You apparently don't watch much football because this has been a rule for awhile and has been called many times before. Its not complicated for anyone but you.

Its literally above in the rule that he linked.

To be clear, are you arguing any clapping by the defense once the line is set is a penalty?

I've watched football for 50 years, try some other lame excuse.
Yes, clapping CAN be a penalty. No, clapping by itself is not a penalty.
And it's not my fault you're too stupid to understand why, I've done more than enough to explain it to you. So have a nice day and make up more fantasies about my football knowledge to cope.

I missed the part of this that addresses any clapping by the defense.

Yes and has been for years. Its literally in the rule. When a qb claps to snap the ball the defense can not clap at all once the ball is set because it is considered simulating the sound.

It’s literally not in the rule. Perhaps you’re just a fricking idiot.

He never argued otherwise but o
this board was happy to assume that he did.

Qb claps as the offensive start or to snap the ball.
CAN NOT SIMULATE THE SOUND OF AN OFFENSIVE START.

In the presser Kirby even indicates the ref made a mistake in thinking he called a timeout:
“They were clapping. So, I ran over to them and said, ‘They’re clapping, they’re clapping.’ And he thought I called timeout. So, I wanted to make sure he understood. Go lip read, because I’m screaming, ‘They’re clapping, they’re clapping.”
So he’s denying he ever called a timeout, just so everyone is on the same page.

You mfers are dumber than a bag of hammers. I've showed you multiple times where it is in the rule. Honestly before the internet i would have never believed people were this dumb but here we are.

What part of this do you not get?
You've never seen or heard QB's clap as part of their starting signals?
Do you want me to post a few clips?

I understand that the rule does not specifically say “no defensive player can clap their hands.” And further, if you will watch film of Georgia, you will see them clapping (like almost every defense does), not to simulate a snap, but to get each other’s attention. Just as the Auburn player was doing here. Quit being a homer bitch.

Exactly, it says SOUND or cadence. Clapping is simulating the sound of the offensive start.

Are you fricking new to football. This rule is not new. Its been flagged for years. If a ref misses it, which they do. It does not mean its not a rule or cant be flagged.

Is it illegal to clap as a defensive player in college football?
Yes, it can be illegal for a defensive player to clap in college football under certain circumstances.
Here’s why:
According to the NCAA Football Rules, clapping by a defensive player can be considered a disconcerting act, which is a delay of game penalty.
?? NCAA Rule Reference:
Rule 7, Section 1, Article 5, Subsection a (4):
"Defensive players may not simulate the start of a play by calling out signals or by making movements that are similar to the offense's snap signals, including clapping."
?? Penalty:
Delay of Game on the defense
5-yard penalty
? Why It’s a Problem:
Clapping is often used by quarterbacks to signal the snap in college offenses (especially in shotgun formations). If a defender claps, it could simulate the offensive signal and confuse the offensive line or cause a false start.
Summary:
Clapping by the defense is not outright banned, but if it mimics the offensive snap signal, it is illegal.
It’s up to the officials to determine intent and effect on the play.
Let me know which parts you don’t understand. I’m happy to walk you through it.

SIMULATE THE OFFENSIVE START. It is literally right there in the rule. It doesnt have to be in cadence. Thus the line SIMULATE THE SOUND OR CADENCE. CLAPPING IS SIMULATING THE SOUND.

This isn’t serious. You’re a complete dipshit if you think Georgia’s defensive players never clap to get each other’s attention at the line. I watched like five plays of the defense against Bama and saw a linebacker clap.
