Unfortunate faux pas but he is right - probably warranted an ejection, but the call to have him banned is silly.

Why? He didn't leave his feet, didn't lower his head, and didn't throw a fist. When the ball hit the ground he was only one step away, he could either slam on the brakes and risk blowing out his knee, or just keep running which he did and got T-boned.
