Most did not see Mizzou. But as much as you give Mizz hell, the fact that the tv market for the SECN is there mean more.

Yeah, but Mizzou is the biggest college in the state and has the largest alumni base. East Carolina is 4th in their state. It won't attract that much of a rating.

And here's a short list on teams I would put over East Carolina in joining the SEC:

Texas
Texas Tech
TCU
Baylor
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Tulane
Louisville
West Virgina
UVA
Virginia Tech
UNC
Duke
NC State
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Florida State
UCF
Miami

I guess if they all refuse, then fine, but no one wants East Carolina.

Just to help you out, it's a yes/no answer. But if you insist, not worthy of consideration or discussion.

East Carolina is what number in terms of fan base in their own state Behind Chapel Hill, Duke, State Wake?

No way. SEC only wants new blood that owns their state

well more than that, they want new markets for the SEC network that just kicked off...THATS WHY FREAKING MIZZOU WAS ADDED PEOPLE

I'd put ECU football up against Duke or Wake Forest any day as well...

It's not the quality of the football or fannies in the seats. it's the TV sets they bring to the new SEC Network and national Gravitas.

Wake Forest, and I'm certainly not selling them here, was ranked for a couple of years recently, beating SEC teams and made a BCS bowl. ECU will never sniff a BCS bowl.

I'd put ECU over Wake Forest. Wake only has something like 4000 undergrads, so they're not going to bring any type of market.

Texas - they'd be great!!!! no way they join the SEC
Texas Tech - really? ever been to Lubbock? We already have A&M
TCU - a small private school in Fort Worth
Baylor - small private school in Waco
Oklahoma - would they come?
Oklahoma State - would they come?
Tulane - uh....they add absolutely nothing!
Louisville - great school, no new market
West Virgina - excellent choice, but we wait for Big XII land grant stuff for 4-5 years
All ACC schools are off-limits right now
UCF adds nothing

Once again, NOT selling WF but when you speak of marketing - one is a brand name the other is not.

The brand name we're selling is SEC, not East Carolina and 14 other teams...

We would be selling the SEC BRAND in North Carolina....ECU would be the means to do that

you get it yet??

yall are still viewing expansion like its 1993

That is completely meaningless in terms of expansion

You're kidding yourself if you think the brand of the team doesn't matter.

Expansion will be this ....
Take any state that has an SEC team and they are out.

Take any team going to or currently in the ACC, BIG, B12, & PAC and they are out ... GOR!!!

Now what markets does the SEC want??? North Carolina and Virginia... now get out a map and look who sits in Northern North Carolina close to VA. Then look at the TV markets and who is moving up ... now look and avg attendance and stadium sellouts in north carolina ... who is in the top 2??

Finally think Blacksburg VA in the 90's ... now put on pruple and gold and get a pirate and who's left ...

when all the facts are in ... it is whats best thats left ...
I truly think we are going to be 5 conferences of 16 teams.... Saban thinks it should just be 5 conferences, i just think they will add 10 teams and be at 80 ... and someone is getting a shot ... eand ECU is located right and has as good a fanbase as any outside 5 big confernces and better than some inside them.

No saying all that IF the GOR is found illeagal or breakable.... then Its 2 of theses ( UNC, DUKE, NCST, UVA , VT )

DUKE & UNC would lock up NC and make the SEC almost as good in basketball as football... almost!

ya, thats why the B1G added Maryland and Rutgers, two football powerhouses....

expansion now is about the television network and more $$$, pure and simple

The SEC is looking for flagships, not tugboats. Sorry.

If the SEC wants a piece of the North Carolina television market for the SEC network then it should consider East Carolina. There is significant money to be made to add the North Carolina market and as we already know, the ACC schools are locked up now and will not leave.

No. We already have a directional Carolina school, why should we get another? It'd be better to pick up a flagship school for Carolina, like Clemson.

I know who I don't want making these decisions. App State is going D-1A.

no one is suggesting Appy State on this board

I'm sure on your list they'd be 2nd behind Wake Forest...
