Students purchase their football/all-sports passes prior to the season, then pull tickets Mon-Fri each week--based on academic classification-- LSU316.

Ticket Pull begins the Monday morning of each home game week.
Texas A&M Students with a valid sports option pull tickets
according to academic classification.
Classification is based on number of hours completed or years
enrolled at Texas A&M, whichever gives the highest priority.
Please check with the Registrar’s Office if there are any questions
or concerns about classification.
Students with sports options are guaranteed tickets until the
conclusion of Freshman Day during a home game pull.
Students without sports options (walk-up) may purchase a ticket on
Friday, if available, by presenting their student ID at the ticket
window. Walk-up tickets, when available, are one-half the face
value of that week’s game ticket.

I think that if a student purchases a student ticket package, their account should be charged one face value ticket for every game they do not attend.
It is but the cost of student tickets is so low compared to general admission that most dont really care

That's how our student tickets work--sort of, anyway. They purchase their football pass prior to the season, they show their student IDs (with the paid football fee) during each week's pull.

The solution is simple. Students swipe cards to get in, so UA likely has the ability to see how many students are inside. If at kickoff, there are 1000 unused seats, they should let 1000 sidewalks purchase their way in and direct them to the empty area where the students refuse to sit.
There are always thousands of folks outside that would buy their way in imho.

Y'all GDIs need to quit whining and sit in the crappy seats where you belong.
Don't you have anything better to do? Like killing pledges?

I think LSU should take away half of the Greek Seats, they are the last ones in and thhe first to leave. If they dont get a greek seat, they can easily get a regular gen admission student ticket for the year. The greek seats at LSU are some of the best seats in the house too.
I actually heard that Saban got rid of the Greek block seating when he was still at LSU. I wish he would do the same thing here at Bama. Was it brought back or something?

We are spoiled by our success. Not a horrible problem to have.
It does look bad on tv when half of the students are gone by halftime, but oh well.

I thought they were doing away with block seating? Anyway, I've heard of a lot people that have caught a lot of shite from the Greeks for trying to sit in the Greek section even after the seats are no longer reserved.
No it's still here, but people aren't making as big a deal out of it like they did last year and the year before.

Carolina has an overflow student section in the upperdeck. The student tickets are general admission but will say lower deck and upper deck on them (I think, I graduated in 2011). Lower deck students get a bracelet, so they can be differentiated from upper deck students. I don't think it works really well, and most of those upper deck students end up cramming into the lower deck anyway. We don't do that reserved seating crap. If you want a good seat, get to the game early.
I wish they did that here, but some of my friends who go to USC said that they have a big problem of people trying to sneak into other sections, and other people losing seats that they paid for because someone stole their seat. Is that still happening?

Best seats in the house though
I disagree. I sat in the Greek section once because my usually spots were taken. I felt like it was a terrible view. No depth perception. In the student section, I preferred to sit at the top in front of one of the sky boxes. Much better view of the game and you wouldn't get rained on because of the upper deck overhang.

To each their own. It's all I know, besides once in the upper deck (never again).
I love sitting behind the goal post and making pledges bring us kicking balls to throw on the field.

Yeah, there was always a problem of non-students sneaking into the student section and upper deck students sneaking into the lower deck.
However, football student tickets are technically free. There is an athletics activity fee (less than $100 I think) tacked onto tuition each semester. That activity fee covers all tickets to all athletic events. Also, the entire student section is general admission, so the specific seats are first come first serve once you are in the stadium.

Wow. That's unbelievable.
What a tremendous deal for your students. Wonder if they realize how fortunate they are?

They're debating on WJOX right now as to whether Freshman should be placed in the Upper Deck so that more fans and donors can be seated in the lower level due to lack of student participation
If schools start going this route the next complaint you will have is of an awful Gameday atmosphere because 40 year olds arent going to body paint and stay energized throughout the game
I personally think students should receive priority. College football is getting to far away from the college environment that makes it a great sport. The more they try and turn it into the Free play NFL the worse the sport will decay.
