Should SEC teams start honoring the previous year's conference champions?

I thought about the idea after hearing that league champions are honored by their opponents in European soccer. It's called the guard of honour. Basically, the opponent forms two lines to make a passageway for the league winning team and showers them with applause as they appear on the field.
Just have the opponents in the conference opener do it for the defending conference champions. For example, Ole Miss would be the first conference opponent for Alabama so they would be the team giving the guard of honour. Last year, it would have been Arkansas giving the guard of honour to Auburn and so on. I think it would be a pretty cool thing to do.

In association football, in recent years teams have shown their appreciation to the champions of their own division. This involves the players of one team applauding the league winners (the other team) as they appear onto the pitch. The applauding team forms two lines to make a corridor, and the league winners run through the corridor, single file.

Frick that, IMO.
Soccer is a communist sport for sissies. Add this to the list of reasons why.

No. You want to have your team with a mindset of not giving a crap that they won the conference last season and focused on winning the game at hand.

I hate the guard of honor and I hate Chel$ki and I hope every team refuses to give them one.
