With their schedule you could make the argument that they should be, but I think people are holding onto the correct (in my view) opinion that Alabama is significantly better than the rest of the SEC, including Florida. But the Gators will get their shot in Atlanta. Should be a good one.

Yes, Alabama is all smoke and mirrors. We haven't beat a decent team this whole year including the game on 1/9.

Yes, although Bama is the better team
Let me see if I can get my head around this logic. Alabama is better than Florida, but Florida should be #1. hmmmm......OK.

Yes, without question they should. But as mentioned it doesn't matter.
The "eyeball test" is just a tool for people to introduce their own biases while dismissing resumes.

Did you think Bama should have been ranked #1 ahead of LSU after that game? Most Bama fans did not.

Yes make them #1 so we can quit seeing threads about it.

When they issue rankings, what do those little numbers beside the team name mean? As long as I've been alive, they meant that the team with the lower number was the better team. That's what rankings are for. If you're going to say that team A is better than team B, then by the definition of "rankings" team A will have the lower number. To suggest that team B is better than team A, but team A should have the lower number is illogical.

Eyeball tests are incredibly bad. Oregon 2010, Ohio State 2006 & 2007, Oklahoma & UF 2009 (both offenses looked almost unstoppable until they met).
I'm willing to bet that once Oregon or K-State plays a team with a decent defense, it's going to be another story for their offense.
Nothing can be compared until the two teams meet. So Alabama is "#1" until they lose.
