I have given up on this kid. If he makes it in, then I will be happy. If not, then I think we are still good at WR. Everyone is excited about his size, but I don't think he is the playmaker a lot of people are making him out to be.

Ok. I see this type of statement a lot. Do you know this man personally? Have you been watching him train the last couple of months? I train young athletes mainly on sporting technique skills and I know that there can be dramatic changes within a month due to several factors. So, unless you are talking about first-hand information, it is just your gut feeling and you are making someone out to be what you yourself may think without any first-hand knowledge.

He graduated HS with my nephew. Despite playing in arguably the best HS program in the nation and having a father who is a future HOF'er who happens to run a premier pro athlete training center (specializing in speed training) he really wasn't very spectacular on HS or at Ohio State. Do you really think training with Bama over the summer is going to change that? The kid has size and bloodlines but other than that.....he is pretty average.

I was his high school coach. I am now on the staff at Alabama after a few years at Ohio State. Am I qualiified now? I will only give my opinion on Ohio State and Alabama players in the future. Thanks for putting me in my place.

You almost fooled me Cris. Nice touch putting LSU as your favorite team. I hope you get in the Hall of Fame in the next selections. You deserve it.

What about that one thread that said he had been cleared? Was that inaccurate?

I coached at a high school that put 40 basketball players in colleges ranging from JUCO to D-1. As a result, I have seen a lot of different scenarios. One in particular comes to my mind. We had a 6-11 PF that had signed D-1. Anyway, his parent were in a war for him and the father won custody and moved him from our school to one in Kansas.
Because of the late move there were some transcript issues that had to be resolved. So once they were resolved (24 hours) I sent them overnight both SLU and the NCAA clearinghouse. If it is just transcripts, why not just overnight them to Alabama?
I would think that a college with a big name player would go out of the way not to get the negative attention.

You'd think.
I'm in the Duran-Carter-may-be-good-but-I-don't-think-he's-good-enough-to-get-worked-up-over-since-we-have-plenty-of-WR's-already boat. With Maze and Hanks back, D. White showing out, and a lot of other highly touted young guys, I see him as a luxury not a necessity.

I was at the Butler CC vs Coffeyville game. He is not near the hype. He is super slow and gets no separation even at JUCO level.
However, he is tall and pretty strong. He could be a very good #3. 3rd and 7 he will be very vaulable. Also, if he can get a few early 7-15 ysrd catches it will make it easier for Maize and the long ball.

I think Duron is just a frick-up. You can just show up at junior college and pass. My brother is dumb-arse. He goes to junior college and has made the dean's list every semester. He doesn't even pick up a book.

He obviously screwed up somewhere.
I heard he's got a professor that won't "give" him a grade...and that's the holdup.
