How many times did we hear that Burrow was a statue before the season and through the early part of the season. At this point you have no basis the make that kind of observation because Brennan was never in the situation where he was asked to or needed to run.

Same. The UT fans I've met in person seem cool, despite Austin's reputation for being a wacko sjw hub. My Texan relatives are actually apathetic to sports except for one Cougar High diehard

Heck yes he’s high strung. It’s because he’s way in over his head and he knows it.

And yeah 2 new coordinators, ton of new coaches.

Hope yall absolutely destroy them. Been looking fwd to that game in TS since they made mistake of scheduling it.

Yall should own the trenches on both sides. They have 7 on 7 players. Yall could win with throwing zero passes. That would be awesome.

I don’t know because he ran for around 100 against us in 74-72, if I remember right. I never heard Burrow being called a statue. But I wasn’t on the rant as much back then either. But def never in the media

Yes Burrow had 250 yds passing and 100 running in the 2018 game. He made some key plays last season with his scrambling ability and on designed runs. I've never heard Brennan described as athletic, he'll need to at least evade pressure at times

Burrow was referred to as a statue by some commentators early in the season. Why? Who knows? Talking heads often say stuff without any actual basis, sort of like your assertion Brennan is a statue. You have not seen him enough to know,

Huh? No. Mettenberger was a statue, but not Brennan.

Sure about that?

I notice you didn't highlight his yards per carry average from last year. If you go and highlight every other starter's ypc average, I believe you will see only two QBs who had a higher average than Brennan (and those guys didn't do much passing). His freshman year numbers are meaningless as LSU's offensive design is much better than it was in 2017. He's not Michael Vick, but I've seen him move well on the run.

You’re right. I was just hacking on ya (young Guns reference).

I haven’t seen him play enough to make any assertions to be honest.

Eye test + kinda guessing.

And his 1.9 yds/carry through 15 games.

That’s all the data either of us have to go on.

Fair enough. All really care about is him lighting it up on 12 SEP.

An honest response. We shall see what he can do. No one really knows until he plays enough to see what he is capable of. He won’t be Burrow, but he doesn’t have to be. We do expect him to be pretty good. He has a strong arm, has packed on some weight, knows the system, has an outstanding receiving corps, and a staple of talented, but young, running backs. There is some returning experience on the O line, but some folks to replace.

Should be a good game honestly. Texas fired their defensive coordinator before the bowl and their D looked way better even with the interim defensive coach in that win. Plus they have a senior QB who tore LSU's D up last year. But it will be on the road and I expect the atmosphere to be pretty damn good. Different than being at home for them.

You’re starting to change my mind about him. Sounds like his biggest challenge will be just getting game reps/experience. If he has short memory and can handle some failures (some can’t) I’m sure he’ll be fine. I know he’s good or O would’ve been dipping in the portal again

Brennan ran for 1100 yards in high school while setting every passing record MS had. He'll be ok.

I think you are correct. Game experience and confidence is what he will need . Burrow was good because he could read the situation so well and make good decisions so quickly, which is why he should be successful as a pro. Now we will see if Brennan has at least some of those same abilities. The word is that he has a stronger arm.
