They are building a brand new stadium. Same could have been asked of us prior to building the new DNF.

y'all are stupid if you think the new florida baseball stadium is not at the top of the league.
As for their fan support, I used to live in Florida. Nobody is from there.
Everyone I know in Louisiana is from Louisiana. Everyone I know in Alabama is from Alabama. Everyone I know in Georgia is from Georgia. Has a lot to do with it I think.

I do also think it has to do with "fans when we win" mentality where at say SC they put 80K in the stands when they win 1 game in 2 years. UK football has not been great since the 50's but they always had fans driving in from EKY even when losing. This smaller but more expensive trend may attract kids but is killing off the middle and lower class who used to show up and bring their families. Money in the short term but financial suicide when those kids grow up and choose not to be fans as adults. Pepsi was the smartest company in the 80's getting the kids hooked even if it meant lower margins so they had them for life and real steady profits year after year.
TV is also not good if you are playing the long game. They made the Gators the rivals for UK MBB because they wanted the TV ratings but it has killed the Rupp ticket demand as Gator fans don't travel to Rupp to watch their team play. Vols in Rupp always sold better because they were border states and historic rivals but all that went in the dumper when ESPN told the schools what they wanted.

Our fan support is very good inspite of this. It's easy to have support when you are the major program in state, and have multi generational ties to the program.
I personally think that the facility being so ill-suited to day baseball in Florida, and Gainesville (smaller town, yet pain in the arse traffic) are the things that have held back Gator baseball support. But, then again, Florida just doesn't seem to spend a lot on facilities. It seems that the thing that is finally getting a new baseball facility is not the success of the baseball program, but the football program's desire for the real estate where the current baseball facility sits.

Florida is a huge state so we have more casual fans than most, and not everyone is aware of the going ons in every sport or some only care about football. That said, there is still substantial support for the other sports, you just don't see it in baseball. Most seem to think it is stadium related given how fans show out for gymnastics, volleyball, softball, lacrosse, etc.
Yeah, Florida has three NFL teams, two NBA teams, two NHL teams, two MLB teams. Three to four big college draws all in a pretty small geographical area. I dont think you will ever get a huge draw to college baseball.
Lets not forget the other leisure activities you can choose on a great spring day as well. There are no day trips to the beach or the like available in Fayetteville or Baton Rouge

O dome may be a little outdated, but I’ve always been a fan of BHG.
Damn. I remember watching the O-Dome when it was under construction. Watched the SEC indoor track meet there. Anyone else ever see Herschel Walker in a track uniform? Probably the most impressive athlete I've ever seen.

I did too. And once you get 30 miles outside of Gainesville in almost every direction, everyone's from Florida. Kids I used to teach in Cross City talked about going to the Oaks Mall like it was a trip to Disneyworld.

You serious Clark?
Yep, Old DNF had tradition and was large. Everywhere else it was a dump.
The skyboxes, locker rooms and other spaces leaked when it rained. It was seriously outdated.

Yes you have, but we really don't care what you think.

If people in that region was as passionate about UF athletics as they are of the Dolphins, it would be something special.
You have no idea what you are talking about. The Dolphins have the shittiest fan support in the NFL. When I moved to Dallas they had never heard of NFL games being blacked out in the local area because the game wouldn't sell out. Regular thing in South Fla.
