Staff Sergeant usually. That can get you in as a Platoon Sergeant. Maybe a Sergeant if they’re senior. While the SSgt/Lt have the ultimate responsibility for the platoon, the NCOs assist with the small-unit leadership model. It’s effective as shite if you have the right people in place.
