He took Arky to the Sugar Bowl, and beat lsu a lot. He could do much better at a school where it is a lot easier to recruit.
This is what I mean with Tier 2 thinking. And I'm not criticizing, I respect that you own it. This is where Auburn sets the bar, and why I think Petrino would be a good match.
But if you will be honest with yourself, ask this question; Would a first tier SEC team even consider Petrino as a coach. And the honest answer is simply, no.
Only a 2nd tier or below level team would make that hire. And would justify it by getting excited that he got Arky to a Sugar Bowl. And it's kinda funny thinking that you believe Auburn is a lot easier to recruit than Arky.

By proving that he has built a program that can beat teams like LSU before?

How many top 5 classes has Arkansas had lately? Do you even watch football?

Louisville to an Orange Bowl better?

While I think you're a rantard, your opinion is shared by many fans and national media and exemplifies what I mean by the "perception" of Auburn.
If Auburn fans don't think this perception affects the quality of recruits we pull in then go visit the, "felony 4" at their local jail. The reason we suck so much despite having good recruiting rankings is because we get the 5 star players nobody else wanted.
Seriously, how did we end up with Michael Dyer over Marcus Lattimore? Even based on their current state, I would still choose Lattimore over Dyer with no regret

Trust me, blzr, I hope you boys snag Petrino.
Answer this question honestly:
Would Alabama, Georgia, Florida, or LSU consider Petrino as a hire if they were looking for a head coach. (be honest, as honest as an Aub fan can right now)
And thanks for the compliment about your pride with Petrino being able to beat an LSU team. That's one way I know LSU is tier one, fwiw.

I know some Alabama fans that said they wanted him before his incident, I'm sure a lot of people would have that's why Arky put that clause in his contract.

Petrino coached a historically tier 3 program to tier 1
idk why I'm arguing with rantards that don't watch football.

Would enjoy Petrino at Auburn. Bama's recruiting would never be so easy, and Aubie would be easy pickin's for as long as he's there.
Petrino would be hard pressed to be able to get in the door of recruits that weren't QB's or WR's and even then his baggage would sink him.
I welcome BP to Auburn, it's one less school to worry about for the next few years.

Maybe you knew some Bama fans that did feel that way. Before. But you didn't answer my question.

lol. Close. He coached an historically tier 3 program to a tier 2. No offense, blzr, but I bet I could find prior posts from you, none of which deemed Arky Tier 1.

And this is where you go when you know that what I'm saying is the truth. You can call me a rantard. You can cry and say I don't watch football. But the truth is, most people outside of your fanbase agree with what I'm saying. And you avoiding the questions leads me to believe you know it, as well.
Look, there's no shame in accepting tier 2 status. It actually makes the football season much more enjoyable for you to follow.

Again you're just flaming or an idiot. historically as programs lsu and auburn are pretty close so I guess you call lsu tier 2?
Who do you think a tier 1 coach is? James Franklin?

Funny, you keep ignoring the question. Let me remind you, not that you'll answer honestly, you probably won't.
Today, would Bama even consider hiring Petrino?
Would Florida?
Would Georgia?
Would LSU?
Does Auburn want him?
That's no flaming. That's just straight talk, blzr. Quit acting like a child. Answer the questions.

What he's saying is true. If Auburn was the program the program we say it is, there is no way we would consider a coach that was fired from Arkansas as our top candidate. Why is it so difficult for Auburn fans to acknowledge that they are begging for a coach not even Kentucky wants to hire?

I have a question. Setting aside morality and off the field stuff and banging co-eds and just looking at on the field accomplishments for a coach:
Was Les Miles, Curly Hallman, Nick Saban, or Jerry Dinardo as accomplished with a career record anything close to Petrino when LSU hired them?
Here is an example: Les Miles was 16-16 in the Big 12 coming off a 5th place finish out of 6 teams in the south division and a trip to the mighty Alamo Bowl.
How about bama? Saban was a HR hire, granted. That was shear luck and timing after Rich Rod turned them down though. How about Shula, Price, Fran, Dubose, Stallings, Curry, Perkins? Were any of them even close to as accomplished as Petrino? Hell no. Some even had losing records as a head coach.
Care to re-think your reasoning and logic? Because frankly it makes no sense.

I don't know they don't have openings! Petrino has a great resume and has taken average programs to BSC games.
Who do you consider a tier 1 coach? I wouldn't consider les miles one after the crap job he did at OSU.

Is it safe to assume you want Malzahn or Smart?
And why are you even doing this? AU fans want what is best for AU. Many of us believe that is Petrino. Quit whining and acting all bitchy about it.

I will gain respect for Auburn for actually hiring a coach that represents their program the best, instead of hiding behind some happy go lucky all in slogans.

IMO, LSU is 2nd tier this season. One thing good about sucking, you're free to watch everyone else more clearly.

Because you're talking about off the field morality issues, I'm talking about coaching x's and o's he's a top 3 coach in the SEC.

I will answer it..
They would go after the best available coach.
IMO and many AU fans, that is Petrino.
Who would LSU hire next week if Miles left?
Posted on 11/25/12 at 7:42 pm to blzr
Petrino at auburn would be a good fit morally.Might as well hire him.
