Well...No shite...But I'm sitting on my deck smoking a fatty, actually wearing a North Face jacket and listening to music from the Kerrville Folk Festival. I haven't been camping or hiking recently, but I probably take 5-10 camping trips a year...

so..he's not lying

Not really a fan of folk music but I used to love hiking and driving offroading, maybe i should've gone to Arky but i guess out of state tuition would've been a bitch.

Ole Miss – You listen to Widespread Panic because all of your fraternity brothers do and fitting in is very important. You drive to Jackson or Memphis for better selections of Bill’s Khakis because they’re a must have item. You live in the poorest state in the union, yet pretend that everybody at Ole Miss is rich, without a hint of irony. If you’re a female, you spend a great deal of time worrying about the latest fashion trends. If you’re a male, you insist on wearing your hair like you’re a member of a 60s British rock band. So did your deddy. You show up for games to go to the Grove and drink with other flop-headed preppies. What would be considered douchebagging at other universities is your local obsession. And since there’s not much to do in Oxford, being greek is your only defense against being bored off your arse for four years. At least you didn’t wind up at State. You may or may not actually attend the games. If you do make it in to the stadium, you will likely wind up back in The Grove at halftime. Your women work hard at being attractive, so it makes sense to pay them attention. You or somebody you know will puke today, but will look like a million bucks doing it.

This is garbage, and I'm not sure where to start.

quote:

Widespread Panic is popular at Ole Miss. However, only 30% of the student population is greek, with the male greek population much lower than the female. Also, Widespread Panic is good music.

quote:

Little Rock is closer to Oxford than Jackson. Memphis is only an hour away. Nobody wears Bill's.

quote:

Mississippi is the poorest state in the union, but that doesn't mean Ole Miss students are poor. If you know much of anything about the South, you know that most poor people don't go to College. Ole Miss is 33% out of state, half of that is from Texas, mostly Dallas. Those people are very rich, and are my least favorite people at Ole Miss. Most of the other people are from Memphis, Atlanta, Nashville, New Orleans, and Saint Louis.

quote:

If you’re a female, you spend a great deal of time worrying about the latest fashion trends.

This is true for about half of the female population.

quote:

If you’re a male, you insist on wearing your hair like you’re a member of a 60s British rock band.

My hair looks best like that. I usually can't afford a haircut and let it grow alot longer.

quote:

You show up for games to go to the Grove and drink with other flop-headed preppies.

I show up for games dressed to the nines, and drink with my friends.

quote:

What would be considered douchebagging at other universities is your local obsession.

Most non-greeks hate the greeks too. We spend all of our time making fun of their frat daddy shorts.

quote:

And since there’s not much to do in Oxford,

Like the Modest Mouse concert last week.

quote:

not greek. not bored.

quote:

I do. I don't leave early either.

quote:

If you do make it in to the stadium, you will likely wind up back in The Grove at halftime.

You'll find me there post game.

Yes and Yes. But I'm not going to leave a football game for them.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself, i'm from Southaven, Ms. A suburban town on the south side of Memphis with a population of about 45,000 people. Southaven is home to the Dizzy Dean World series, and The Mississippi riverkings. I grew up three houses down from John Grisham. I went to Catholic school in Memphis because the best school district in the state of Mississippi "wasn't good enough for me."
I had a 3.1 GPA and a 28 on my ACT. I applied to Ole Miss, UT-Knoxville, and UGA. I was accepted to Ole Miss and UT, but wrote a really crappy essay for Georgia. I chose Ole Miss because my dad is Alum, and because it was in state tuition.
I have an IQ somewhere between 128-132. I'm an atheist, I'm pro-choice, I'm an avid supporter of Gay rights, I was a huge Obama supporter until he started sucking, I get high and listen to post-rock and indie, I skateboard at the park in oxford that Tony Hawk built, I'm stuck on Hot for Teacher in Guitar Hero World Tour, I love writing lyrics and music, I play guitar, I'm learning banjo (Indie/Folk), I go to as many concerts as I can afford, I love sneaking into the good bars in Oxford, In the grove, I wear a button down and khakis, and drink maker's mark in honor of the university grey's who died in Pickett's charge, I'm glad they lost, I dated a somewhat unnatractive female for about three years, She was my best friend, She broke my heart and I'll never get over it, I hate Rap and Rap culture, but if it is T.I. or some shite straight out of Memphis, I'll listen to it, I despise rednecks, I despise judgemental people, I refuse to get a northface, I only have polos because they look good, I was into theatre in high-school, I am a published poet, I wrote that girlfriend a sonnet for valentines day, I read for fun, To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite novel, Othello is my favorite Shakespere Tradgedy, My grammar is abysmal, I forget when to use semi-colons, and commas. It pisses me off when people judge me before they know me. I can be pathetic, but I'm not ashamed of the person I am.

If you would actually like to visit Oxford and the University of Mississippi, I would gladly show you around town. Until then, I would prefer that you not spread the same garbage that has been spread for years. There is definitely truth in many of the things you say, but there is alot of diversity in Ole Miss, and Oxford.

I love life. If I was normal, It wouldn't be any fun.

This is true. There are a ton of people that are greek the first year or two and get tired of the high school drama and just want their education.

Alabama

"Tradition"- every student must use the word tradition in a sentence every gameday for every national championship Alabama has won or claimed they won. But students have no fear gloating over tradition b/c they are aware of the vast army of toothless gumptards that have never been to the University of Alabama must less stepped into one of the classroms there that will defend anything Crimson Tide and quite frankly try to kill you if you disagree. Alabama students, both male and female pride themselves on their football knowledge, so every week whether the Tide is playing Tulane, Kentucky, USC, the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots, or the NFC Pro Bowl team they know that top to bottom Alabama has more talent and as long as the team listens to Saban and buys into the system they should come away with the W. But when the Tide inevitably can't live up to your expectations, you don't mind b/c you know you have a 50/50 shot of doing blow later that night in the bathroom of a T-Town bar with Kenny Stabler and together you can gloat on how when Alabama finally puts it all together they will be the most unstoppable force in college football, and it is going to happen, it's just of matter of when.

vice versa. Heartbreak Tiger is coming up for the LSU/Ole Miss game next year, you're invited as well. I would have invited you to tailgate at the Egg bowl this year, but I was groving with friends. Next year, and years after I'll have my own tent.
