Not begging for props, just pointing out the insane mental gymnastics posters go through to discredit TAMU. Hell, it's not even unique to hating on the Ags, this place is rife with it

That is exactly what has happened regarding the SC game in particular. I don't know how you can argue otherwise.

That's just the way it is around here. If a team does well, other posters feel the need to cut their fans down to size, which causes more push back. It's only natural.

Yeah, to the point where most people on this board are listing A&M as the best team in the West right now. A Bama fan points out that South Carolina might not have been as good as previously thought, and this is somehow unacceptable to you.

Only because some like him will throw out that line of thinking without even considering the other: A&M may just be that good. My point is we don't know either, but folks will latch on to whichever one discredits the team they care for less.

Exactly...that's all I was pointing out. It looks like the vast majority of posters here gave ATM big time credit for the win, which it is solid to win on the road in the SEC, but I was just trying to add a bit of perspective to the mix. Of course it was taken as an affront to some ATM posters but that is clearly because they were in a pre-existing defensive mode and didn't read the content of what I actually posted.

I know you are generalizing now but see you are falling into the trap that because someone questions your victory, they are automatically snubbing ATM's potential merits. I didn't say that. That is how others can see that some of you ATM fans are being overly sensitive. You are denying the allegation before it is even leveled. I said that I wouldn't read that much into the victory yet because I was never sold on USCe's prowess. That is a valid point. They have some glaring weaknesses that any other decent team can and will exploit as well. USCe has potential but they need a lot of work. That doesn't mean I think ATM is a bad team but I am saying that the verdict is still out. It was a nice win but you weren't exactly playing the Seahawks.

Basically what I'm saying as well, only with regards to both teams. Of course fans are gonna defend what they perceive to be a solid win. Did you expect otherwise? I don't care how sensitive you want to say Ags are, I guarantee every fanbase would react the same way in the same circumstances. It is what it is.
