I hate having to cheer for UAB. At least they give me something to cheer about until football season....

True. But no one wants to come here. Our team sucks and they will not even sniff the NCAA or the NBA. Maybe the new arena and new Village will help.
Think about it this way. We are excited because of the 4star Kemp commit. He will be the highest ranked player on the team...On the other hand, the worse guy on Kentucky's team is a 4star.

Wrong, it is not just Arkansas.
I see how good the SEC is in football and baseball. We are nowhere near as good in basketball. Yes, Arkansas is a huge disappointment but with the revenue this conference brings in there is no reason all of our teams could not improve.

The SEC West has never been known much for basketball other than Arkansas (mainly between 1992-2000) However every one of the teams in the SECw has won that side of the SEC's title over the past 10 years. I think that makes it a pretty competative conference. I think it will be even better next year IMO.
And back to Arkansas they wont be a true contender until they do what Kentucky did and get them a high profile coach that can use his recources (The Bud, tradition, and Wal-Mart money) to bring top notch recruits to Fayetteville.

Alabama and Ole Miss are good teams. I think MSU wins the west this year. They are always in contention for the west. Arkansas, LSU, and Auburn are horrible.

I wonder if I could charge them $100k to coach the players to not bother running any sets, and just live and die by the 3. It would save the University a lot of money in this economy. And it wouldn't matter if I sucked at recruiting, because according to some, the new arena would be what brings in the big time guys...not the fact that the coach is worth a shite.

No it hasn't. I think alot of it has to do with him not recruiting athletes, he doesn't like to recruit the kids that will be gone in 1-2 years and prefers the 3-4 year guys who might be projects. Like Dan Werner. He has to be the worst senior...ever!
Watching us play UK definitely made it obvious to me, our one decent big can't stay out of foul trouble and there's not enough talent to back him up.

The East is currently 4-1 vs the West this year. 2 of those wins are against Auburn and the West's win was Ole Miss' 4-point win vs UGA.

Seriously MSU fans...yes, the SEC West is pathetic. Rider? Richmond? Western Kentucky? I know they are all decent teams..but they are teams a "good" team should beat...especially the SEC champ with 5 returning starters. The fact that we came within 2 points of you AT the Hump is also pretty sad. Honestly...no offense. Just stop trying to polish a turd.

This is true, but please understand, the west really sucks. The east is not very good but the west is terrible.
You really are confusing mediocrity with being good. The best team in the west (MSU) is a very mediocre team. They should be better than what they are.
The two biggest underachievers in the SEC West are Arkansas and LSU. Arkansas has a great tradition in basketball and LSU has a lot of good tradition too. Hell, the best basketball player to ever come out of the SEC West is from LSU and they do nothing with that.

I think a lot of people are thinking competativeness/parity with good basketball and it simply is not the case.
