I'm sure the Ravens will draft him - he will back up their current middle linebacker. When I seen that video Sunday, I kept thinking about the "U" - he would fit right in there back in the 90's.

There were several on youtube this morning. Now they're disappearing. Still a few left.
Another black eye for the SEC?

lma0@"late hit"
Play was still going. It was dirty but still legal. TT should have head on swivel. This is nothing remotely close to eye gouging.

isn't the oregon rb coming back in the next game or so?
Sadley the Oregon's player's actions are more repectable than that thug low life B.Spikes. At least in the Oregon incident the other player wasnt defensless, just slow and dumb. La Garret Blount at least was facing his victim face to face.
Fess up FL fans. 51 is a piece of shite. He's your piece of shite and a damn good football player, but still a piece of shite.

It is a late hit when its on the QB like that....thats why you cant hit the QB after he throws the ball even though the play is still going on. You are only allowed to hit a QB like that if he is trying to lay a block or if he carries out a fake...and neither of those were happening. Shouldnt of been flagged. Is it as bad as an eye gouge? No but is it still wrong yes...
and i take it very few of you actually played ball. Cuz even just in highschool i cant count the times people pinched, stepped on hands, punched, and eye gouged.....it happens on all levels of the game. Was it dirty? yes. is it the first time it has happened? no. will it be the last? no...has every team done it? yes.

you can on a running play buddy
and I played ball and NO ONE I've ever played with had their eyes gouged out in a scrum.

How many people watching around the country went "ooooooo" when he announced it would be an entire "half game".

Spikes is the lowest scum you will see on a football field. A piece of shite is all Spikes is and that might be an insult to the shite. Urban Meyers, WOW! What a punishment, suspension for half a game against Vanderbilt.

ESPN obviously can't show it, because they didn't have the game.
I saw it on ESPN at lunch today.

Running play or not.....if the QB isn't carrying out a fake and is out of the play, you can't hit him. That was awful close to a PF.

As a Florida fan it was tough to see this bullshite, this was just over the top. Trying to gouge out an eye is pathetic, and there should have been a minimum of a one game suspension. Florida plays Vandy next so I highly doubt Spikes will see the field in the second half, but a half game suspension doesn’t serve what happened Saturday. Spikes is a great football player, but his antics really show how shitty his sportsmanship really is.

Spikes behavior reflects poorly on him.
His "punishment" reflects poorly on the University of Florida.

That. As long as he's not blocking, it's an unnecessary roughness penalty. The Georgia guy stopped, looked down the field, then took a cheap shot. It should have been flagged.
He sure as frick didn't try to gouge his eyes out though.

Tim Tebow will "save" Spikes...and circumsize him, too.

Remember, kids, if any of your coaches say anything bad about the referees, the head coach is out for an entire game.
If you try to gouge the eyes of an opposing player, you're facing a half game suspension against the mighty Vanderbilt Commodores.
