It makes sense. Take the out and put the run on the board. They want to get as many early and often with Kentucky's offense.

What was the reason for Thompson getting the start? It's not like he was great against them in the first two games.

They hit a little dribble in the infield that would've allowed the run to score and there was catcher's interference. Instead of taking the base on the interference, McDonnell wanted to take the out and the run.

I think it was part McKay pitching tomorrow (we'll have ace vs ace) and Thompson pitched well in the region against NC State.
