Because Dan Mullen is doing soooooo much better as a head coach. What is his record in the west again? If you try really hard this year State, get plenty of rest and drink all of your milk, you can possibly finish 3rd in the west this year. I believe in you.

Yes, I'm sure. Jackson got involved and talked before the decision was made, despite what wikipedia says.

The board had decided on Croom. Then Jesse comes down and demands that we hire him or we're all a bunch of racists. The board then decided it wasn't going to appear to be pushed around by race-baiters, and went with Shula.
Bear Bryant wanted Croom to be a pallbearer at his funeral. If the board, really was goingto hire Croom and they didn't b/c of Jackson, then they are ignorant as hell. Granted, the UoA wasn't very good at PR back then, but that situation could have been easily handled to where UoA could have looked really good.

I think it was a smart move by the board.
Once Jackson says something, the entire hire is suspect. For his entire tenure, it would've appeared that he was only hired because he was black. Every possible criticism would come back to that, "he was only hired because Jackson demanded it." It also would've made the board look like pussies.
I think they made the right decision.

Mullen had as many wins in his first three years asCroom did in five with half as many losses. Mullen doesn't have a Maine type game in his career. Mullen has two winning seasons out of three instead of one winning season out of five. He may not be Saban or Miles, but he sure as hell is better than Croom.

I'm still waiting on us to press charges on him for stealing from us. He is the laziest piece of shite in the nation. He fell asleep in a recruits house, he left recruiting visits on the table several times, he said he would have to be fired before he would fire any of his coaches, he said Maine was a better team than us, he would sit his arse on a golf cart all practice, he help me witness the worst beat downs I've ever seen. I actually hoped Ole Miss beat us as bad as they could in that last Egg Bowl. I knew that was the only way we would get rid of him.

I didn't give a shite about his skin pigment. I only cared what kind of HC he was. Mullen had one WR on scholarship when he came to town. One!! There was some NFL talent in some areas even it wasn't properly developed. Thing is, Croom had no clue how to recruit to a balanced team. If he did know then he was just too lazy to care. Good man? I don't know him personally. I knew that I liked what I saw early on and I even tried to believe and I always supported him until that last season.
He lost the team and the fan base. Mullen has revived it.
Oh, and you can win at STATE and Mullen is about to prove it. Gotta believe!

Either way, you aren't winning the SEC and finishing no better than 3rd in the west this year. You are who you are, with or without Croom

So you think we should of stuck with Croom?

Croom's teams lost to the likes of Maine, Tulane, UAB, etc
They also were blown out very often even at home.
Mullen's worst loss is the 31-3 loss to Bama when they won the national championship 2 years ago.
Mullen's teams have been competitive during his tenure.

That's fricking dumb.
And you're fricking dumb if you can't see the massive improvements our PROGRAM has made since we got rid of that black hole of excitement.

I watched it. Was more impressed with Croom from the show than I was his coaching. I felt like he honestly cared about all of his players, not just from a football standpoint but in life as well.

Dan Mullen can beat the 4 weak OOC opponents and the likes of Vandy, Kentucky and Ole Miss. Outside of Ole Miss, Auburn is the first team he beat in the west and that took him 4 years. You are more competitive but ask yourselves this, in the SEC is there really a difference in finishing 4-7 in the west? You honestly know that the closest you are getting to a title is when you make that hour and a half trip to Tuscaloosa the last weekend in Nov.
