Alabama has a decent basketball history compared with the SEC.

Alabama is the second winningest basketball program in the SEC, behind Kentucky. Second most overall victories, and second most SEC Tourney championships. The potential is definitely there if Bama can get the right coach.

LSU has a couple more SEC titles than Alabama and Tennessee is even with us but you are correct about win total. In fact, the overall win total and winning percentage ranking for Alabama may suprise people who aren't familiar with Alabama's basketball history. Going into this season we were ranked 30th among all programs in all time winning % and slightly lower than that in all time wins. Up until just a few years ago we held the dubious distinction of having been to the 2nd most NCAA tournaments without a Final 4 appearance. Missouri was #1 on that list btw. Now I think BYU tops that list.

Ummm....

1. Kentucky: 2,131 wins .762 win pct.
2. Arkansas: 1,574 wins .639 win pct.
3. Alabama: 1,567 wins .619 win pct.

I think he's talking about long time SEC members. Arkansas obviously has the 2nd best history among current SEC member but you aren't necessarily mentioned when talking about traditional SEC members. It's kinda like excluding Syracuse when talking about all time ACC programs.
