Walker finished fourth I think.
He finished 3rd, one of the first freshmen to ever finish that high. To that point no freshman had finished higher I believe. He finished 2nd as a soph and became just the 7th junior to win it. If the rules back then were like they are now, Herschel very well could have had 3 Heismans. If he stayed for his senior year, easily could have had 4.

Belue just invented the forward pass.
Buck Belue is still talking shite about this game today.
Dollar to a hole in a doughnut he talks about this game on his show tomorrow.
His passing was, without a doubt, the difference in this game though, I'll give him that.
How many times did SCAR stop Walker on the goal line that day? I've already counted four times inside the five.

Is he still looking for a house on Highland Road?

He's a great man. He's 91 years old and still doing charity work.
They don't come much better than that man. I hold him and Paul Dietzel very high in that regard.

You live in ATL?
I'll be listening on my phone tomorrow to see if you owe me an a-hole doughnut or a dollar.

Gary Harper is a preacher now, along with our kicker from that team Eddie Leopard.
These two teams were loaded with notable characters though, both on the field and the coaching staffs.

For sure.
The running rumor in the 70s was that LSU was about to fire McClendon and the Parseghian was looking for a house in BR on the QT.

Wait what?
Rogers's dad just got out of prison? Seeing his son play for the first time?
Did I hear that right?

No, I just know Buck from the old days. I've got a few years on him but I should have kicked his arse one night in Atlanta. The most obnoxious drunk in history.
Rogers had over 90 yards on 19 carries in the first half.

I was there. 11 years old. We sat on the front row. Couldn't see crap because of the damn hedges. People forget that SC was the highest ranked team UGA played that year, except for ND in the Sugar.

Even UGA fans roll their eyes at Buck daily. I can't stand his show to tell you the truth. I'll listen to my dog talk about football before I'll listen to Buck and Kincaid.
"Dog, what do you think about Green moving to DB?"
"I just found a spider! I'm gonna roll around on it!"

Damn Herschel was fast.
But Rogers was brutal physical.
But damn Herschel was fast and physical. Just not as physical as Rogers.
Rogers is a much more humble man. Herschel is still Herschel. I don't think I've ever heard him give Rogers the credit that Rogers regularly gives him ... and I find that somewhat disappointing about Herschel at time.

Herschel is clinically schizoid and is on record saying he doesn't even remember being a running back at UGA.
Don't take it personally.

Yep ... and the irony was that a lot of people claimed that won Rogers the Heisman because voters felt sorry for him. Which was bullshite.
Rogers was the best running back in the country that year. He led the nation in rushing against a very tough schedule. Matter of fact the number two rusher in the country that year was a kid down at The Citadel, I forget his name ... wait, was it Stump Mitchell? Yeah, I think it was Stump Mitchell.
Yeeeehaaaa! My memory is en fuego tonight! As soon as this game is over I am waking up the wife and knocking me out some tail!

God I love rewind games. Why is this the only one on the network right now? No punt bama punt? None of the old ole miss games with Archie?
