Checking in. Just got power back a couple of hours ago. I've been checking out the damage done to others on the news and am really praying for the ones that got hit so hard.

My family and neighbors are ok. We just have tree damage and some building fronts blown off. I've not been to Guntersville just down the mountain yet. Trying to stay out of the way for the rescuers. But heard that Guntersville had some major damage.

It's been tough cooking outside on a grill and living by battery powered lights for the past 4 nights. All we had by way of news was a small battery powered radio. Daughter did have a phone with internet capability, so she kept up with some of the news that way.

I pray for all the people that have lost their loved ones and for the ones with family or friends still missing. I also pray for the people that have lost all their belongings and hope that all that were hurt will soon get better.

I cant say I-59...all i can tell you from my vantage point is everything south of Cullman(trimble area) right through the heart of downtown is a mess.

Our county had tornado's in the south(Hanceville)..the center(cullman on through HollyPond)and the north(WestPoint/Fairview).

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

I heard the one that hit Cullman go by. I've got a few trees down, but other than that, all's OK. I've always been struck by the randomness of a tornado's destruction. I could have easily wound up dead up in a tree around here, yet I've got power and minor roof damage this morning.

If anyone cares, I'm alive and well....back at work at UA today - very odd feeling knowing that 1/2 mile from my office is complete destruction

My stepdaughters are safe. One was @ our condo in T-town, the other @ a condo in Midtown Village (she got in a garbage chute). Younger one here in Huntsville. Older one stayed in T-town to volunteer. My husband(their dad) gets shaky every time he sees pics & thinks about what could have happened. Ashley Harrison was one of my eldest stepdtrs friends. Prayers for everybody.
