I will never understand some of these guys who shoot up boards the month before the draft. They have 3 or 4 YEARS of film on these guys, but they don't realize how good they are until a month or two before the draft? Do they not employ scouts?

I'm interested in seeing if in say Round 6 or 7 the Chargers take Smelley. If Gates doesn't stay healthy the entire season, Brad is an excellent back up plan.

If Norv Turner hadn't nixed his F-Back position a few years back, I could see it. I don't think you could expect a smaller, late round guy who doesn't look the part to replace Gates.
Smelley will probably be asked to learn how to longsnap by the team who picks him up.
