I call it the Drew Lock rule.

Jesus. That is the point. Saban keeps him on a short leash because he isn't that good. Saban is a great coach. He goes with the tools that will achieve victory and avoids relying on someone who will cost him.

Look, I think you have by far the best team in the conference, probably the country. I just think that player is not that good and the way Saban uses him pretty much affirms my statement.

In the two playoff games last year he averaged about 46% completion percentage and had less than 190 yards passing COMBINED. Am I just going crazy here?

Having the top QB rating in the SEC says otherwise.

Well... he's clearly is 3rd in the conference in that stat. You're confusing it for the espn qbr.

That's like saying Sean White had a bad game against Arkansas last season because he didn't throw for many yards.

I wouldn't be blowing sunshine up his arse either though.

Look. I'm not going to tell you how you should feel about your QB. But those stats aren't anything to get excited about. It's okay for people to think Hurts isn't a good QB. It'll be okay.

Ha. Ok.

Later in the year, I prefer conference stats as there are common opponents.

Earlier in the year, I prefer power 5 (not all FBS are created equally).

Thanks for sharing.

I'm not even arguing that, but we were running for 10 yards every carry. We could have had Joe Montana back there and we were going to run the ball 85% of the time until they stopped it (they didn't).

Totally agree. A lot of bad FBS schools are just as bad as FCS schools. I like using P5 stats only, but at this point the sample size is so tiny.

Hahaha totally agree. He's been fine. Done his job. He's not an All American or anything like that, though.

Spot on. Jalen Hurts puts up way below average numbers against teams with a defense. He can throw for between 70-100 yards at about a 50% completion because he can hit the short passes. The coaches rarely even dial up a long pass when he is in because they know he can't hit them.

Heisman winning stats

Didn't he get yanked for that Hawaiian kid somewhat early in the 2nd half of our game? His stats aren't Heisman quality thus far, but he didn't play the entire game against us.

Because trouncing (or not, in a couple cases here) an FCS school isn't a good way to measure quality. It's like getting a blackbelt in beating up pre-teens.
