so what's the difference?

The cover and feature were supposed to be on Manning.

No, they weren't. The cover you posted was the planned cover, not a last minute switch.

Would you like to prove that? I have heard that story several times over the years, if it's wrong please prove it and I will quit telling it. Either way Wuerffel was by far the better, more sucessful college QB. 4 SEC championships and played in 2 National Championships, winning 1.

How many times did Tony Robinson go to the locker room after a defeat?

Manning was supposed to be the lead story going into the 1995 match-up. The heralded sophomore led the Vols into the game as a media darling. Sports Illustrated was set to put Manning on the cover of their magazine the week following the game regardless of the outcome. Early in the game the Volunteers looked poised to thump the Gators, as they were up by 16 points during parts of the first half. As the game wore on and rain deluged the fans and players, momentum shifted into the Gators' favor. The Gators scored 48 straight points to turn a 30–14 deficit into a 62–37 win. Danny Wuerffel, who had come into the previous year's game off the bench in mop-up duty, threw for six touchdowns and found himself on the cover of Sports Illustrated instead of Manning.

Could throw with either arm and also played a season with a broken arm. Now players sit out and cry if they stub their toe.

Unfortunately, during his tenure with the Saints, they put his toughness to the test. Guy got straight up beat up during his NFL career (lost the 1976 season completely).

He was also the only bright spot on the team. The Saints defense was god awful. I'm not saying he would have been a great had he a better team around him, but I think he performs better.

Danny Wuerffel for starters. Never lost to Manning, 4 SEC championships, played in 2 National Championships. No one had a better pro career than Manning but the OP was SEC football dream team.

7 pages and no mention of Billy Cannon for PR or Don Hutson for WR?

What happened to all the old school fans who know SEC history extends back even past the 60s?

32; that's a very good list. I think the WR besides Reed is debatable. UT had some that were better than AJ, IMO. Gault, Kent and Morgan were absolute studs. Plus UF has had some in the last 25 years who could be argued better than AJ. I'm not knocking AJ just having a open discussion.

college productivity should be the key...so, it should be David Greene. He won more games than Wuerffel...or maybe Jay Barker...he went undefeated, and Wuerffel didn't...so he is obviously better.

BTW...you are right that Wuerffel played in 2 National Championships...Wuerffel managed to only throw 3 ints against Nebraska and was able to keep Florida within 40 points of the Huskers (barely)...so, you've convinced me...Jay Barker, best SEC quarterback EVER...

Both would be a better choice than Manning, thanks for helping me making my point.

Several SEC QB's > Peyton Manning. He doesn't deserve to be on any SEC dream team except a UT only one, based on his career.
