Miles one of the biggest underachievers? How do you figure that?

Of his 8 teams at LSU, 5 have finished higher in the rankings than they started, 2 have finished lower, and one finished the same. And keep in mind, this is in spite of the fact that his teams have almost always started in the top 10. He even finished higher than he started the year he started #2.

He's been favored to win the SEC West three times (2005, 2007, 2008) and won it two of those (2005, 2007). He's also won it once when he wasn't favored (2011). He's been favored to win the overall SEC title once (2007) and won it twice (2007, 2011).

He has a winning record against every team in the SEC except Georgia and Florida, against both of whom he is even.

Exactly how has he underachieved overall? He obviously underachieved in 2008 and 2012, but that's only two years of his eight at LSU.

You want to talk underachieving? Think Curley Hallman and Mike Archer. Hell, they even lost to Mississippi State for crying out loud. Once each. In four tries.

A little misleading because (generally) the only time an SEC team plays the spread, until last year, it was in a bowl game or some other big game like a kick-off classic. Not the normal 11-1 or 10-2 season game for Saban or Miles.

I don't know if Miles ever "plays the spread", but yes, excluding non-conference games does make the stats misleading.

Isn't TAMU and Ole Miss now considered a spread offense? And of course that's what Tebow ran at UF. And LSU beat Oregon a couple of years ago. What about the year Cam was at Auburn (was that considered a spread)? So yeah, I'd say Miles has seen it a few times in the last 6-7yrs.

Spread as in betting. You're not alone though, I thought the exact same thing. I was wonder how Sumlin was 5-3 when A&M only lost 2 games.

Well I guess I am dyslexic. What's the damn point then? How well Vegas sets the line? That's got to be as stupid as my first response.
