These "doing more with less" arguments are ridiculous because recruiting isn't exogenous. At the college level, it is just as important as the play calling and motivation.

I think Gus will prove that he is the better coach over the long run, but Pinkel has to get the crown right now.

It's not "who is the better coach", where we would have to take in his entire curriculum vitae, but rather SEC Coach of the Year, which I would presume only includes the actual games played, so no, I don't think we include recruiting.
If we were looking for the best coach, neither of those would be in the discussion.

I'm going to go with Mullen. He's kept Mississippi State on course so steadily that they're literally the only team in the SEC I have to look up online to know what their record is and who've they've played. Consistent mediocrity, never being too good or too bad, is really difficult to pull off.
