He's definitely not a homer, but some things just aren't worth arguing

well, beating Arkansas is going to be very difficult and that has to happen first.

do salute you though, knowing that its never gonna get better than this but still being a fan. Its sad to think that after this year Mallets gone and back to the "hope to be bowl eligible" discussions you go.

Yeah, cuz we don't have any more QBs....

I am not in that group that thinks LSU can't beat Arkansas... they always worry me. However, we have been very competitive with less talent here recently so I like our chances. I wouldn't put money on either team though.

I understand that, but our games our easier.

And we have Kentucky and Ole Miss at home.

Like I said in my first post, I don't think either team is going to a bowl.

Yeah you have QBs but they're not Ryan Mallet. Theres not another QB thats such a good "gun-slinger" as Ryan Mallet in the country though. Tyler Wilson has all the tools to be good but not Mallet's level.

Well of course not... Mallett is a big talent that doesn't grow on trees. But that doesn't mean we'll be scraping for a bowl when he's gone.

Yeah and Tennessee never accomplished anything after Peyton left.

I know it is hard for you to believe, but good coaches can turn out good QBs. Finding and developing a good QB isn't a matter of stars or MLB contracts.

Personally I will never worry about our offense as long as Petrino is here.... period.

I seriously think the SEC could win 8 or 9 bowl games this year. We have just beat the dogshit out of each other during the conference.

Homer pick. Tennessee has to run the table against Ole Miss, Vandy, and Kentucky.

Don't agree.

Tenn needs to win out against UM (4-5), Vandy (2-7) and Kentucky (5-5). 0 teams with winning records.
Ole Miss has to win 2 out of 3 against: UT (3-6), LSU (8-1), MSU (7-2). 2 teams with winning records.

I like Tenn chances better, but more than likely neither goes bowling. That would leave the SEC with 9 bowl teams.

Sidenote: how crazy is it that #5 in SECW is 7-2?

I tell ya Memphis, Ole Miss(home), Vandy(Nashville which means Vols home), UK(home) stretch is much easier than Oregon, Florida, LSU, UGA, Bama, and S.Carolina.

We were told last night that Mallett will be lucky to go in the third round for many reasons, basically he's just not that good.

Now you say we will be lucky to make bowl games because he is gone.

This is pretty much what I have been thinking for weeks now. Tennessee could win their last 3 games to become bowl eligible. The SEC is going to have some tough bowl matchups with the Big 10 this season. OSU, Wisconsin and Iowa are good teams with big OL's. Hope we are matched with an ACC team; don't think our fledgling DL could handle a big/powerful OL.
