It's a public ground. They have the right to free speech and the school can't shut it down because it violates the first amendment. There was going to be a massive flag burning at LSU a few years ago and the university said they weren't going to stop it because they were well within their rights.
And it's happened ONE time. It's not a current thing that is going on. The KKK was protesting because the school was being progressive. Do research instead of assuming everything.

I hate stupid people who would rather believe bad things are going on because the media says it and because their friends make baseless claims because they are bigots. Do research and educate yourselves instead of going off what other people say. You'll be a MUCH more productive and educated member of society.
