Bammers want to brag about going 16-7 with a roster of 5'7 white guys in 1953 as if anyone cares

Just because fan interest in the Auburn basketball program and fan attendance at Auburn basketball (outside of a random year here and there in the mid 80s and late 90s) was so embarrassingly low before Bruce Pearl arrived that your administration had to put up a giant curtain to hide all the empty seats in the arena doesn't mean that the rest of the college basketball world has had the same lack of interest in a sport that your fanbase finally (and only briefly) discovered existed around the turn of the century

Another Bama newcomer who thinks regular season wins matter in CBB.

No, not a FOG (football only gump) Bama fan here. I had an uncle (in the 70s) and a great uncle (mid/late 50s) who were both starters on some pretty good Alabama basketball teams back in those days so I've been keeping up with SEC and Alabama basketball since the early 80s. Started attending Alabama games as a young kid in the early 80s

You would have thought after their AD paved them a gold path to lucking into a final four theyd stop with this nonsense but they just cant shake it.

Seems like when the tournament was smaller, conferences were limited to the number of teams in the tournament.

Kentucky had the SEC on lock down.

That’s why regular season wins and conference championships used to matter. I realize they don’t so much any more, but they were extremely meaningful not all that long ago.

So the Johnny come lately fans arguing wins and conference titles don’t mean anything historically are just proving their ignorance.

Arkansas was late to basketball. One of the youngest programs currently.

LSU is the only fanbase in the SEC I have ever seen make this argument in large numbers.

Because no one remembers (or cares about) a team that wins 30 games and gets bounced in the round of 32. Despite our current shite situation, we have had more tournament success than most teams in the conference.

Auburn is basically Alabama's equal since the tournament expanded and black people were allowed to play. But continue to brag about underhand shots and peach baskets lol.

Depends on what you consider "equals" but just for fun let's look at the stats for both programs since they've both been integrated (1970)....

NCAA tournament appearances:

Alabama - 26
Auburn - 14

Sweet 16 appearances:

Alabama - 12
Auburn - 6

Elite 8 appearances:

Alabama - 2
Auburn - 2

Final 4 appearances:

Alabama - 1
Auburn - 1

SEC regular season titles:

Alabama - 7
Auburn - 4

SEC tournament titles:

Alabama - 7
Auburn - 3

Overall # of wins and winning % (1971 season - current)

Alabama - 1,119 (66.4%)
Auburn - 888 (54.7%)

Yep, no difference. The programs are basically carbon copies of each other since both were integrated

Totally irrelevant.

Something Auburn athletics knows a lot about.
