how you figure?
I just explained it to you in the previous post.
quote:
10 of our 13 losses were by 8 points or less
They were still losses
quote:
We were tied or had the lead with under 5min to play in every game on our schedule. Depth did us in last year, not talent.
Again... still lost.

We swept the West minus the miss st loss in the sec tourney
Who didn't?!

I think its fair to say that our starting 5 will be as good as any in the SEC. A weak SEC for that matter.
It is a weak SEC, however Florida plays in the strongest division. With Vandy, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
I'll say Florida may be the 5th or 6th best team in the SEC, but they are at least 4th or 5th in their division too.

It took a miracle FT percentage to get out of the Ole Miss game. Team average before that game was in the 50's, UF shot mid-90's against us.

My point is Vandy, Tennessee, and Kentucky all swept the SEC West too. Nothing to be bragging about, especailly when the west is so weak.

SEC East
1.Tennessee
2.Vanderbilt
3.Kentucky
4.Florida
5.South Carolina
6.Georgia
SEC West
1.Ole Miss
2.Alabama
3.Miss St.
4.LSU
5.Arkansas
6.Auburn
I know I might seem weird having Vandy so high but I think they will be pretty good with the guys they have coming back like Jeffery Taylor, John Jenkins, Lance Goulbourne, Andre Walker, Brad Tinsley etc.. I also think Florida could surprise some people. They bring back a lot and have a good class coming in. I think Patric Young could make a big impact as a Freshmen.

i will be surprised if UK finishes ahead of us next year with what they are losing and the lack of depth that they have...
i think with all of our starters returning, plus 2 key players from injury that we should see an improvement of 4-5 games in the W/L record
I think we will win 25+ games next year.

A man can dream...
I don't see it. But the truth is... It doesn't matter what you or I think. We'll just have to see what happens on the court.

well we will agree to disagree...i personally believe that our returning experience and continuity will lead to an overall improvement in finishing the close games that we couldnt seem to do this past year...but you are right, we will have to wait and see

After our discussion, I've looked at a few things. Florida does look a little better than I originally thought.
A lot depends on what talent UK brings in. Tennessee lost a few, but have a great recuiting class coming in, also has Williams, Hopson, Hall, Goins, and Tatum returning. I think that is pretty darn good.
Also Vandy is return very key players too.
After looking at it in more detail I'll place the East as follows.
1. Vandy
2. Tennessee
3 a Kentucky
3 b Florida
4 South Carolina
5. UGA

UF will finish 1st or 2nd in the East. Wait and see. We return every starter including Parsons, Boynton, and Macklin who were playing really good ball at the end of the year, we also bring in 5*PF Patric Young, and get back 2 players from injury.
We lost a lot of games in the final few minutes because of no depth, next year we'll have a lot of good depth.

If we land Rattliff and/or Cothron, it will be on and poppin in the west.

Florida will be one of the more experienced teams in the SEC next year.
I like their chances in the east to make a run.
UF wins 10 games for sure in the SEC next year. More than that, and they'll start challenging for the SEC crown in a weak conference.

I'm genuinely surprised (yes, i know) that so many people are picking UGA last. We return 4 of our starting 5 and 7 of our top 9. We already showed we can beat SC, UT, UF, and Vandy. Plus, UK should be down. All we have to do is play a little better against the West.

UGA got regularly destroyed on the road last year. They'll have to turn that around before they get out of the basement.

Could say the same for Florida.

We didn't get destroyed on the road.

Posted on 4/6/10 at 9:44 pm to ThirdAndChavis1234
there is a difference between getting destroyed and losing by a couple points on the road
Posted on 4/6/10 at 9:45 pm to willthethrill
granted they are both losses...so in the grand scheme of things i guess it really doesnt matter
Posted on 4/6/10 at 9:48 pm to willthethrill
UF didn't get beat as badly as UGA on the road, but they only won 3 SEC road games this year.

??
UF actually won some games away from home this year.
They even beat MSU at a neutral site.
UGA didn't beat anyone away from home. And were regularly destroyed.
