There's a lot to unpack here but this is one point:
From the article:
In Destin this week, SEC administrators are expected to examine the governance proposal and the possibility of separating football completely out from under the NCAA. During its spring meetings last week, the Big Ten swung its support for doing just that — bifurcating football governance.
In an unreported and little-known fact, SEC presidents in March quietly authorized their commissioner, Sankey, to split from the NCAA if he deems that the right move.

So, the SEC and BIG10 turn into the AFC and NFC of the NFL-D league. Here we go.

There is an unbelievable amount of material to unpack in that article. Most people don't even know that the SEC and B1G actually control the CFP starting in 2026.

It seemed to be setting up this way for a while. I’m not surprised. We may see both leagues add more teams in the near future

Wild times are coming for college football, hopefully FSU gets left out in the cold

The NCAA only has itself to blame.
Create a new league for football and allow them to put these kids on contracts.
The kids need to have some skin the game again.

Yeah just skimmed through it. We all knew (well those of us that were honest skeptics) that this NIL crap would eventually lead to a scism and a break up of the NCAA. At least in Football. Personally I don't know how to feel about it, it feels kinda gross to me to see college football go down the road it has. The nostalgia of it is severely tarnished with all this. Turning a lot of people like myself off to college football honestly (and no that's not because we sucked this past year).

Based off what the article says, adding more teams would only get us closer to the problem Sankey mentions. That there are too many Div 1 programs going after the same pie.

Just a matter of time until they implement the Tony Mandarich Rule and make steroids legal.

Now this I could get behind

There at least needs to be a total roster Salary Cap and a Salary Limit for players. Make it like the NFL, then at least you get a little parity and not just the programs capable of milking their mega donors of mega cash to buy a player.
But if they player doesn't perform, he doesn't get paid.
If it's gonna be "pay for play" then these primadonna's better "perform".

I hope we don't add another team. One key point is the private financing that they are looking into. Reading between the lines, they want to get away from football being counted in title 9. If football breaks away from the NCAA and privately financed, that will open up more spots for men's sports. Schools like Ole Miss are missing a ton of men's sports because the women's sports is a drain on the budget and for every male spot, you have to have a female spot.

Yes, basically a pre-tournament tournament.

The NCAA is done and done and good riddance. We need an organization that guarantees that the wealth is predicated on those who earn it. We might as well get the most deserving into a league of their own as soon as possible, with hard, fast rules of law, and let the less worthy fend for themselves. You know, the American Way.

The NCAA is powerless, and college football needs strong leadership. The sooner the P2 can separate, the better.
Also, why subsidize the G5, ACC, and Big 12? Outside of Clemson, none of them compete.

The plebes are upset with the 65-35 weighted voting power where the 28 “other” D1 conferences have limited say in how the NCAA and the basketball tournament are run.
quote:
“Absolute power corrupts absolutely,” says Big Sky Conference commissioner Tom Wistrcill. “There’s going to be no checks and balances for them. There’s going to be no limit to what the Power Two can do if you give them any more.”

Vandy and Mississippi State won’t make the cut. Neither will Northwestern and Purdue of the Big 18.

Schools like these will be kept to provide an illusion of legitimacy. Similar to how insistent the NCAA and universities are about using the term student-athletes.

There definitely needs to be a cap but mega programs will find a way around it.
I think the most urgent thing to shore up is the transfer portal. I think everyone should get 1 and if you want to do it again you should sit a year or go FCS. This hopping sometimes twice a year is absurd.
