The only coach in the country that should even be LOOKED at for coach of the frickin year is sitting in Birmingham. Took the team to the first bowl in their history and the program shuts down for 2 years.... and first year back... second bowl game in history.

Established coaches at traditional powers aren't usually given much rope by the public just for the injury situation. I suspect the thinking is that you have lots of talent, so replacing it isn't as impressive as Little Guy A going undefeated with less talent, even if the schedule was ridiculously easy.
Besides, completing the undefeated season by beating a P5 team, and a fairly well-regard football program to boot, kind of pushed Frost over the finish line in dramatic fashion. Had they smashed, say, us or MTTSU instead of beating Auburn, I'd lay money Frost wouldn't have won.
