If by "flagship university" you mean the lead university in its system, then Auburn is a "flagship university" because it isn't part (thank the dear sweet lord) of the Univ. of Alabama system. Auburn Montgomery is the lead university of two universities (Auburn Montgomery being the other) governed by the Auburn University Board of Trustees.

The phrase flagship campus or flagship university is often used with reference to state university systems in the United States, which often comprise numerous campuses in widely-separated locations. In this context, flagship means the original campus from which the system grew.

What's your definition of flagship? They were extablished first. We have more students, make more money, have better academics, and have a better football team, so I really don't give a shite.

What exactly makes Auburn a better academic institution? I know engineering is better at Auburn, but other than that, what is? I mean Alabama is known for the business and law schools while Auburn is known for the engineering and agriculture schools?

What is it then?
The best overall representation of the state?
Bc most people nationwide know the phrase "Roll Tide" and relate it to a country accent coming out of a female smoker"s voice...not a great representation
Meanwhile people think were a private school some places I have gone

Yep. There are several UGA campuses across the state. There's one in Gwinnett, Griffin, Tifton, Buckhead-Atlanta, and research sites all over.
GT?

That was my understanding as well, and Georgia is the oldest chartered University in the country.

I'm certain most people are more familiar with the University of Alabama than Auburn University.
Hell most people don't even know where Auburn is.

Well since you responded directly to my very clear question with an answer that was not relevant to my question, I am saying that your answer was not relevant to my question.

Veterinary, architecture, business, as well as engineering and agriculture. Auburn's nursing school is highly competitive to get into.

Flagship doesn't change from year to year. If it depended on football it would reference the overall program and not go by a year by year status. Our program history >>>> MSU's program history. Even in this decade alone.
The State of Mississippi still considers Ole Miss the Flagship University......no matter how many times Mullen's Communist-style propaganda tells you differently.

I didn't want you to name every school Auburn offers. I'm just saying that agriculture and engineering is what they would be recognized as IMO and Alabama would be the law and business school. That's how I made my decision on where to attend, along with everybody in my family from my great grandparents down attending The University of Alabama.
