Sark needs to worry about finishing the season 2-0 worrying about anything else as it pertains to the sport of football is a lost cause and yeah we do need to part ways with him at that juncture.

Is 2019 really the only team to do that?

2011 LSU beat

#3 Oregon
#2 Alabama
#3 Arkansas

They beat 5 other ranked teams as well.

Crazy they choked in the title game.

Yeah they were wronged having to play Alabama again. Would have had two of the top teams in the history of the sport with 2011 and 2019.

False. In 2019 LSU beat 4 Top Ten teams during the regular season.

2019 LSU beat the four preseason top four teams and seven top ten ranked teams at the time they played them. They did this while the opponents never had the ball in the fourth quarter to make it a game. That isn’t arguable.

Another great set of teams was the 1988 and 1989 Notre Dame squads

The 88 team beat - #8 Michigan, #1 Miami (Catholics vs Convicts), and #2 USC. Wins the natty

The 89 team beat #2 Michigan on the road, #9 USC, and #7 Pittsburgh.

Ok take them out. LSU beat 3 others in the regular season when the game was played.

And why the frick are you making it about LSU?

I think it's lame as frick when people try to pretend like game time rankings are meaningful is why.

The rankings update each week for a reason.

It would be like claiming LSU beat a top5 Clemson team this year and that Clemson lost to a top10 LSU team. In reality they were both just extremely over-rated.

Except it's a bullshite stat that pretends over-rated teams are somehow good wins. Like claiming a Texas team you only beat by 7 points was a top10 team when in reality they weren't even ranked in the Coaches poll at the end of the year.

Sark always talks about the Texas STANDARD.

Sounds like he’s got it down bc the Texas standard I continually witness is making excuses.

Correct. Wins 5, 6 and 7 against ranked teams were the SEC Championship game and two playoff games. The original poster said "regular season games".

The general consensus is that the 2019 LSU team was the best team in the history of college football. So your bama gump butt will have to accept that.

I agree with you with the caveat of weekly rankings are too reactionary. By nature. Best way is to wait to season end.

Not sure it's true but assuming Ou and candy keep winning we do have a chance (assuming beat atm) to beat 3 top 10 teams in a season when the rankings are done at the end of the regular season.

Clearly Texas isn't uga or osu level but are they byu, Utah, Miami, etc level? That's the question because those are looking at the 11 seed

Yep pretty much.

I think of it as game time rankings are like trivia based. But actual accomplishments should be based on the latest rankings, or season end eventually.

It's like when Alabama beat "#1 Miss St" back in like 2014. Yeah, ok that's trivia, but did they really beat the #1 team? No, we lost to Ohio St, who eventually was the actual #1 team that year when it was over.

I barely can remember what happened yesterday. Asking me to remember something that may or may not have happened in 2019 is way too much lol.

They didn't choke in the title game. The first game was pretty much the same except our FG kicker went 2 for 6 in that game, and then 5 for 5 in the BCS game.

The crazy part of that year is that LSU and Alabama were extremely dominate against every other team except themselves. They were averaging over 35 points against all other opponents, but then there was only 1 total TD scored over 2 games between them.

Both were next level.
