There will still be Herod's Crotch infected fricktards starting "FSU and Clemson are coming to the SEC!" threads, weekly, during the off season.
Then some dumb fricking jort wearing Gator fan will pipe up and yell, "WE AIN'T AFRAID OF NO FSU - WE'VE WANTED THEM IN THE LEAGUE SINCE '65!"
Sanky's outright put-down of the FSU/CU notion will do nothing to stop Ranttards from Ranttarding. It's sad and pathetic.

Does Notre Dame have a big fan base? They're a small private school.

ESPN doesn't see the value in adding FSU and Clemson for them (since they already own FSU and Clemson's games through their ACC deal).
I think its beyond "not seeing value."
FSU is locked in legally, as the GOR for the ACC is based on the Big 12 GOR that all of the Texas and OU lawyers couldn't find a way to break without paying the big bucks (for a single year).
So instead of trying to fight the GOR contract itself FSU is using the leverage of Florida Sunshine Laws to try to get the ESPN contract in public to shame the ACC and spill ESPN's contract secrets (the same ones used in the SEC contract). They assume the ACC (and therefore ESPN) would rather settle then have their secrets be made public.
Its the football AD equivalent of a toddler tantrum.
The reality is ESPN doesn't need FSU, hell high level football doesn't need FSU. I could see ESPN make an example out of FSU as punishment for putting them in the middle of their spat with the ACC.
Clemson is a little different, they have more tested the fences then try to go for a power play. But its clear they want FSU to lead, and if the end result is FSU in the Big 12 for an extra $5 million a year but $200 million in debt then its possible Clemson doesn't follow and the ACC stays intact (and FSU is fricked).

For a team the SEC doesn’t want, they sure are talked about a lot during media days

I know it is about money. For you guys as fans you would find a better culture fit with NCSU and VT. Been around all four teams. North Carolina and Virginia football and fans are boring.

If ESPN would offer more per team to add Clemson and FSU they’d be offered a spot tomorrow. Obviously they aren’t right now so they don’t have an offer.
If ESPN stands to lose broadcasting rights of the more valuable ACC teams to Fox or CBS, they will give Sankey a better offer and renegotiation of the contract or lose those eyeballs to their competitors.
Sankey is posturing at ESPN really. And ESPN is not going to broach that discussion until movement happens on ACC GOR.

Makes sense, I always thought the “big and sec dont won’t fsu if the acc survives” talk was weird. Why add the if acc survives

Note Dame is never going to join the SEC. They don’t want to be there and you wouldn’t enjoy their demands. Oil and water

ACC is already dying but the date of death is to be determined.
This is really about how it shakes out in the Disney v. Fox v. Paramount in the long view. I know Fox and Paramount would love to steal something from Disney after Disney impoverished each by snagging 100% of the SEC’s rights and the SEC adding OU and TEX.
I’d stop even thinking about this in terms of conferences and think about it in term of broadcast oligopolies.

You're joking, right?

As much as I hate ND, they have one of the largest fan bases (If not THE largest) in the country. There is a reason the media fawns over them.

My personal opinion is that those 2 AREN'T fb related choices.
I've also thought VT would be a good choice. Imagine them in a rivalry with TA&M.
