So based on that, I'm wondering-
Did someone (probably Wright) reach out to Kiffin, their former coach and mentor, for advice? Facing the likelihood that their football career was basically over for at least financial purposes; they were about to be cut and have to scramble to make someone's practice squad.
Kiffin told him,
hey don't panic. You fit the 5 for 5 ruling, you just need to file suit and get a restraining order or injunction, and then you get a final year of college. Nobody has challenged any of these suits, so it's just a formality.
And for what it's worth, you're a good player, heck I have room and would take you here.
If so, is that "intentionally violating conference rules", or is it a mentor saying "don't quit" and then a coach picking up a good player (or does conflict of interest then arise?)?

I think the thing we're ALL trying to wrap our minds around are:
No school has been expelled from a conference, not SMU for getting the Death Penalty. Not Penn State for the pedophile scandal. Not Texas Tech for trying to sign Sorsby after his gambling came out. None of the schools hit with "lack of institutional control". Not Nebraska for wanting to play football during the covid year before the Big 10 finally reversed and agreed to play. Not Florida State for flailing around wanting out of the ACC after being left out of the playoff a couple years ago.
Not Vandy last year, and then Ole Miss this year, playing and starting a (good) QB that the NCAA had ruled ineligible, only for a court to grant an injunction allowing them to play.
Given that background, including some SEC stuff to be clear (which is ongoing), what did LSU do that is so much more severe?
And to the right to expel a member, sure it's "allowable", do fellow SEC institutions really want to do that now?
This is the direction you want to go?
