I'm sorry, I was distracted by the glimmer of those three crystal footballs. What were you saying?

Tennessee is a dumpster fire and a great coach is going into a bad situation.

Odd move by Sal. Guess he just wants to move up to DC.

He would be stupid. Bad situation to go to. Not to mention he could be promoted at Alabama when Smart leaves.

He's 57 yo and this is his first high profile DC job. He's been a pretty successful position coach, so I'm surprised it has taken him this long to get one.

Last time I checked he was born in August 1.1959.
He's 52 years old. Kinda off on your math there aren't you brother?

Maybe a bad situation but he gets his shot to prove what he can do.

This seems like a pretty good hire. Nice job, Dools.

Sorry, just got to the board and looked at this thread. Looked like a question more than a statement.

Since he's already been hired apparently, good pick up and recruiter for you guys. However, bad for him, because that staff is in real danger and I'd be surprised if it survives past 2012.

I would be too. But in spite of the fact that we suck right now, Tennessee is still a high profile job and I don't understand why taking a risk to jump to defensive coordinator is all that surprising. If the Vols win 8 or 9 games this year, Dooley is going to stay anyway. Less than that, well...if Sunseri is good, he shouldn't have trouble finding a job.

And now McCullers commits to the Vols! #1 JUCO DT. 6'6 340 lbs. What a day!

Every Bama prospect that Sal was recruiting that we didn't have room for is going to take a good look at Tenn. You might land quite a few more.

There was no way Bama was goning to pay a non cord that kind of money. So, good luck.

Onlything I'm a little worried about is RRagland, he's not a happy camper now.

"The chance to work with Derek Dooley, who has been around championships and knows what it takes to build an elite program, combined with the rich tradition of the University of Tennessee, makes this opportunity so exciting to me," Sunseri said in a statement. "I am fired up to work with all of the young talent on the defensive side of the ball, and I can't wait to get up to Knoxville and coach them."

Lance is pissed, BTW. He wanted the promotion. He and Sal gonna throwdown.

Lance made the lateral move to UT because he was promised an opportunity to become DC if the spot opens up. Now Kiffin is gone and Dooley does not give a frick. Couldn't happen to a better guy.

I feel like Thomas Jefferson would have to be a UVA fan, or is he simply bandwagon-ing off of Alabama's success?

Would Kevin Steele be a candidate to come back? He got shitcanned this week didn't he?

For LB coach? We would absolutely hire him for that in a heartbeat. He will probably take a DC job at a smaller school though.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Lance Thompson come to Bama in the next 2 weeks.
