According to this list of the worst draft mistakes of the past 15 years published in 2011, Saban players are pretty prominent on this list.

LINK

1. Jamarcus Russell - LSU
3. Charles Rogers (recruited to MSU before he left)
5. Dimitrius Underwood - MSU

Other first round flame outs coached by Saban would be:

Dan Williams - Toledo (only 162 tackles in his NFL career with no notable accomplishments)

Plaxico Burress - MSU (shooting yourself in a club and doing jail time for it is a bust)

TJ Duckett - MSU (career high of 779 yards in a season)

Michael Clayton - LSU (only 10 TD's in his career and is out of the league)

Marcus Spears - LSU (10 sacks in an 8 yr career on it's last leg)

Joseph Addai - LSU (only had 2 good years, but a decent NFL career. Is out of the league already)

Craig Davis - LSU (51rec 558yds 2TD's career stats, and is out of the NFL)

**LaRon Landry - LSU (still has time to live up to his hype, looked like injuries might end his career short)

Glenn Dorsey - LSU (4 sacks in a 5 year career, the sun may be setting on his time in the league)

Tyson Jackson - LSU (5 sacks in a 4 year career, Dorsey and Jackson are the worst DE tandem in the league)

Rolando McClain - Bama (personal life is a hot mess and is leading him out of the league)

Mark Ingram - Bama (Lulz, just go to the saints board)

Dre Kirkpatrick - Bama (only played in 5 games so far in rookie season, didn't shine too bright while in there. Still has lots of time to live up to the hype)

Lots of hat, not a lot of cattle.

Just shows how great of a coach he is that he got these guys to play at an elite level, not his fault that NFL coaches aren't as good as him.

Saban is the best coach in America and Bama OL don't hold. It's pretty simple.

Why is that a bust? That was off the field and has nothing to do with what he did on the field. I guess by your logic, Petrino is a bust as a coach right?

But how does he do at Alabama?

Thats like blaming the high school coaches for their elite players not becoming stars in college.

I'm going to go ahead and declare this another Saban fap thread - he is so good he coaches up mediocre players into 1st round draft picks.

Looking at the list, it looks more like a LSU first round draft bust problem, not a Saban problem..

With 60+ players in the NFL, there will be some bust..lol How many arky have in the pros again?

A bench warming QB
A few receivers that haven't done squat
A running back that can't stay healthy for more than 3 weeks.

As a Saint's fan, I really don't understand the hard time the Mark gets from some folks. The Saints got him for a reason and they use him for that reason. They have a ridiculous stable of talent at RB and they use all of them instead of just having a feature back. Mark, being the biggest toughest one, is used to pound the middle and soften up the line. Pierre-Thomas and Sproles primarily get the outside runs and the passes. You have three great RB's splitting time on a team that has been behind and had to throw A LOT this year. Any of these three guys could be the starting feature three down back for most teams in the league. A part of me does wish that the Saints would trade one or two of them so we can see Mark really shine the way he is capable of, but from and owner/coach perspective I can see the sense in keeping them - always have a fresh top quality RB and keep them off the opossing side of the field. If they are playing for you they can't play against you.

Who cares. Saban gets them into the pros. It's up to the player after that.

Besides 2 SEC championships and 2 national championships and going for a third in 4 years is what counts.

So what's the point of this thread? It's like saying a Heisman winner won't play out in the Pros. Big deal. They were good in college and that's what matters.
