If any school has its full 85 scholarshipped players, and graduates 17 of them, if their next class is more than 17, they have technically "oversigned." But I don't know of a school that limits its signees strictly to the number of graduated scholarchipped players. And the difference in the two numbers will quietly or with fanfare transfer to another school, go on medical scholarship, or otherwise leave the magic "85." Fair?? I don't know, but it is the way it works at Alabama, LSU and any other school that tries to compete at the higher levels of football.

If Saban's recruiting tactics are so blatantly wicked, then why are top notch HS players still willing to sign with him? A 4-5* recruit has many choices where he will play ball. If they are worried that they will be sent packing in a year or two to make room for another top class, then they should just go somewhere else, right?

attrition is what happens when a school is coming of scholarship reductions. the graduating classes are smaller. there will always be attrition in college football (especially when a team is trying to rebuild). 25 kids a year for 4 years is 100 kids. 100>85. and that doesn't even count the ones who get a 5th or 6th year of eligibility. and yes, saban is advising these guys to leave. you have no proof he is "kicking" them off the team, and i have no proof he isn't. however, not one guy has said anything negative after he left. so until that happens
