With the ideological direction of our court system in this day and age, it would be ludicrous to think a court would uphold such a rule.

why? Non competes are upheld all of the time in the business world. Why is a head coaching position any different?
Sometimes they are thrown out due to circumstance, yes. It would obviously be case-by-case.

Kid was foolish enough to leave TX and think he would start at Bama. He deserves everything he gets. He could probably start on any team in the Big 12 or he could play 1 year at a JUCO or FCS campus and transfer anywhere he wants.

No court in the land is going to allow an organization to deny an individual's work rights under normal conditions. I stated in my other post that the only chance to prohibit a coaches possible move would be through a non-compete clause....and I think we're in agreement on Saban's
The NCAA could undoubtedly create their own version of a non compete clause for coaches. We've already established they've done just that for players. Hell, the conference cold do it as well. Schools, the NCAA and conferences are perfectly capable of drawing up contracts.
(or any coach) decision to not allow the transfer to Georgia.

which is why I edited my comment and added that it would likely be the school that would enforce it.
And courts deny an individuals right to work often in the business world if it is an issue with competition. It usually depends on the judge.

Nick Saban didn't have a problem with accepting a DB transfer from LSU in Phelon Jones. Nick Saban is just a piece of trash. No other way to put it

No kid has ever come to Bama from Texas and started.

Now go find us an instance where a judge wouldn't allow an individual to work within a competitive field with out a non-compete clause being violated from a previous contract...I'll be here.

As a Bama fan, that's a dick move. No one should restrict where players can transfer to.
