Bama was no pinnacle at the time of his hiring
But it is a school where it's easy to win if the right guy is in place, that's where tradition comes into play. When speaking of th pinnacle of the sport, alabama and 5 or 6 others are there.
Oregon has been a national power for the past 5 or 6 years, yet it is not considered a premiere job in coaching circles..I'm wan't speaking to where they were currently, more what they had done and where they can go. There is no denying by anyone that alabama is one of the top 5 programs of all time, therefore the pinnacle of the sport.

Haven't read the thread yet. How many pop psychology analyses of Saban have there been so far?

Saban may be better, but not at the fricking Cleveland Browns (armpit of the NFL)!
If a no-name coach could get a Job in NOLA and win a SB, and a college coach goes to Seattle and turns them around, why do you think Saban couldn't do in Cleveland what Bellicheck did in NE. Remember all three of those teams were perennial losers in the NFL before their current HC got there.

Yesterday the national sports media were saying that McCarron had torn something in his knee based on a report from an anonymous source. Now a story concerning Saban to the Browns has come out from Cleveland where a Tennessee alum has just taken over the Browns the very week Alabama is playing Tennessee. Does anyone else smell something fishy?
And if you know anything about Finebaum, you will know that Finebaum was practically laughing his arse off at the rumor.

They whine when Bama fans post in their threads, but then they are so quick to post in Bama threads, and then still whine about Bama fans flaming LSU fans in Bama threads.
Just a lotta whinin' with those cats.

Remember: obsession is never a two-way street.

But why would Saban wanna leave an amazing town like Tuscaloosa for a town like Cleveland? Oh wait, Cleveland would be an upgrade.

Rule of rumor mongering #650: Locale is always the dealmaker (or dealbreaker) in coaching changes.

Just throwing this out there....but in a hypothetically funny world...what if Saban left and then came back as the next head coach at Auburn?
