Thanks for saying this. I can now ignore everything you say about CFB. If what you saw last night = NFL ready , you don't know what you're seeing.

Yeah everyone realizes that. You're quoting something that's not even a knock on him, it just says it's crazy to think he is NFL ready like the OP suggests.

.

He is a great talent, and physically imposing as a freshman, but he is not close to NFL ready. He has a long way to go in learning the techniques of his position and the game itself. He will learn that run defense is as important as rushing the passer. The announcer says he is playing end at 300lbs right now. With good coaching he could be a dominate DT, but if he's going to play end, he needs to drop some of that weight. Still explosive but could be much quicker with a decrease in weight.

Agreed

I see him moving to DT eventually, doesn't have the speed for an NFL DE, but he could be explosive with that strength at DT

Actually, he COULD make an NFL roster and get paid, but that doesn't make him NFL ready. It just means they're willing to take risks on players with great measurables on the chance they may be the next Lawrence Taylor, and it's worth it to them if they have several busts in the effort.

He caused havoc on the drive that Led to the 4th and 18 being converted. He was the one held and the other 2 plays he chased CS from the near hash to the far sideline. Just because he didn't have 6 sacks in his first college game doesn't mean it was bad. He is going to be great and showed flashes last night but he still has a long way to go and is not NFL ready yet.

To the guy who said he was too slow to play DE, you will eat your words before the year is over. He can haul arse to be 290.

I watched him in the first half and he looked fat and slow. He needs to shift inside. I can tell you this, he is at best in the 2 deep at the big SEC schools. The freshman wide receiver, though, looks amazing.

Fat? He's 295 lbs and has a 6 pack

his weight is in his legs. It's not hard to comprehend, but certain fan bases don't like giving credit where it's due so meh w/e

The problem with people is that they're fricking stupid.

You realize that Jadeveon Clowney, the BEST DEFENDER IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL, is completely blocked out of most plays. Like, 90% of plays, Jadeveon isn't in on the tackle. He eats up blockers and, when he does break free, he fricks your shite sideways. That's what good defensive linemen do. That's what Robert Nkemdiche does.

He made some mistakes. He looked lost on a couple plays. But he demanded respect, and had Vandy's offense keying in on him for the block. That's what good DEs do. Some of y'all need to remember that double-digit sacks on a season is VERY RARE even for good defensive ends in the SEC.

ETA: My point is that, just because he didn't have any amazing highlights outside of a run on a fake punt doesn't mean he isn't a good DE.

He would get embarassed in the NFL right now. Would not make the team.

I think he will be a very good player, however he appears to be a little bit of a tweener between DE and DT. I think his best position might be DE in the 3-4.

I watched him the majority of the time last night and thought he did well for a kid in his first game. He may not have had a ton of tackles but the guy was man handling people half the time he was lined up against them. The got damn homerism and butthurtness from people on this board, especially LSU fans, is comical.
