YOu may be young and just trolling so I'll give you a pass.
Hurt was the last of his kind. When he wrote a piece, you could take it to the bank. He was always fair and never wrote to inflame opponents. He had his thumb on the pulse of Alabama athletics because the whole athletic department had the utmost respect for him. Saban said he was the best he ever dealt with throughout his career. You should read what other well known(not as good) writers have said about him. Hell man, go read some of his pieces. You will be entertained.
Cecil Hurt is a legend in the SEC.

RIP Mr. Hurt. I’ve always enjoyed your column, candor, and wit. You were able to give quality information, and even opinion without sensationalism. These are both things lacking in your profession today.
Prayers for strength and comfort to your family.

That's a real shame. Great loss for the sportswriting community. He was magnificent. He was the rare "hometown writer" who while certainly supported Alabama, he wasn't a sycophantic cheerleader. When they stepped in it,he addressed it.And he didn't take cheap shots at Alabama's rivals.
Bless you, Cecil. You were a good one.
He graduated from Bama and his Dad played football for Bama so he was as Gump as you could get but he was no sunshine pumper. He basically got rid of Shula
