Seems as though you can do a triangle of fandom.

LSU on one side-radical, wild different culture, loathes Bama, loathes each other as well.
Alabama- radical, uses football to fill cultural void, doesn't dislike LSU or Georgia, thinks bama is the greatest thing ever.
Georgia- calm, doesn't really give a shite, no long term memory, somewhat like the cuckold in the paradigm.

I'd believe that if you are inside of the Alabama bubble it would be more difficult to see that Alabama lacks a distinct culture. If you were to poll most people from outside of the bubble, they would agree that y'all use football as a means to define y'alls culture. There's nothing in particular to the region, and if you were to go to someone outside of y'alls region and say to someone,"what do you know about Central and northern Alabama?", football would probably be the first, if not only, thing they say.

In saying that, I'm not dissing Alabama, that works for yall, but that's what it is. If you can remember back to the article that guy wrote about the difference of Tuscaloosa and Baton Rouge, that was his point, in short. When that article was posted on the SECrant, one of our fellow posters said in short,"Football is one of the many parts of the Louisiana culture, Alabama use football a means to identify their culture"

What's amazing is there's a 25 page thread on the Dial thing. The last UGA post is around page 10-11..

It's football, everyone says UGA wilts in the big games. FWIW, we gave as good as we got Saturday night & there were a coupla cheap shots on both sides. That's football, shite happens. I've got nothin' but kudo's for both teams...

It's was College football played at it's highest level IMO.... Myself & most UGA fans are over it. LSU fans need to let it go too...
