The SEC wouldn't get that if FSU leaves the ACC unless a special deal can be reached.

That’s when the grant of rights becomes a dollars option.

Anything g is for sale.

I seem to remember Bowden saying that the ACC was a better fit “academically” for FSU than the SEC. Everyone got a huge belly laugh over that. He knew he couldn’t win big in the SEC and wanted an easy road to play for natties

You never post links to your info, but I bet it is about 3 days old.
Many times I don't link the article; instead, I just cite the source, as I did this time (247Sports). Since most don't even bother with the link, I just reference it.

There were 2 things considered back then. First, the ACC was better in basketball and made a lot of money from March Madness TV revenue. Duke/NC going to Final Four a lot made sure there was exposure and money for the ACC

Second, yes it would be easier to win national titles in football in the ACC rather than SEC. Not much harder tho in reality. Only Alabama and Florida were really good in early to mid 90s in football.

The SEC was not expected to be the force it is now in football back when FSU was considered to join. No one could have predicted that starting 8 years later the SEC would dominate the college football landscape for 20+ years.
